  • Which X3 features do you use the most, and which have you not explored yet? (p.2)

My favorite X3 feature is that I can still use X2 and have a GUI that doesn't leave my eyes in pain.

I think my favorite X3 feature is the stability I experience. I sometimes have 100 tracks or so going on and have yet to see any of the problems I see posted here almost on a daily basis. The Waves plugins GUI doesn't and never has disappeared, audio tracks don't mysteriously remove themselves, the program doesn't crash...folks it's not Sonar, it's your system ;)

Things I have no use for- Matrix, anything loop related(as a musician I play my own music but thanks anyways ;)),browser and multidock(what a waste of real estate!), Soundcloud.

Overall I'm very happy with X3, I just wish I could get rid of some of the clutter.

1. Stability - X3e is the most stable release of ANY Music Production software I have ever had
2. Dock/Undock - How easy is it to drag stuff where you want, across multiple displays and such
3. Screen Sets - Incredibly useful
4. Melodyne - I love what this brings, plus the integration of it
5. Gobbler - VERY useful for sharing projects.
6. Pro Channel - FABULOUS
7. This forum - meaning the collective wisdom and willingness to help folks.  I learn every day from here
8. The combination of work flow and UI.  The X series has really come into its own.  I get things done fast.

The order of the above is in no particular order.  I just felt like numbering them for some reason, which was no reason at all, it seems.  :)

So which X3 features have you not explored yet? Or have you checked out most of them?

Favorite Newish Feature: Touch on the Console View. I really enjoy this. I'm most often found here while tracking or to get a rough mix starting point with a bunch of freshly recorded tracks.

Most used feature: Just working with automation envelopes on the tracks in trackview like always.

Least used feature: I try to use AudioSnap from time to time for one reason or another, but almost always give up and revert to the original audio.

Which have I not used?  Probably 99%.   I already had Melodyne so that wasn't an issue for me.
For what I do, I could probably get by with Sonar 7.

Melodyne, EQ Flyout, Blue Tubes Plug ins. These are all winners for me.
I often forget how useful the browser can be and I often forget the Matrix view exists, I'm with Alex on the Drum Maps.

I have found the colour coding of tracks associated with a bus a great but simple addition to X3. Auto track zoom was the feature that broke my resistance to the x series interface.

Pro channel is great.

The Matrix view is something I never use.
