System crash (windows updates and Win 8 system backup failed - groan)

So, am installing all software, X3 is fine and dandy but I need to get back Breverb etc etc so to do that I need to custom install my previous versions.

X2 Downloads fine but I get "Please download and run Previous packages"

So, I turn to X1 to download but my only download link is for X1 expanded which is a fraction of the file I need in terms of size??, doesnt seem like a full installer as from what I recall you needed the base X1 Producer to upgrade (which I have) yet X1 producer has no DL link, just reg code and serial.

Any ideas?

There is nothing unique in X1 Producer Expanded. X1 Producer included a light version of Guitar Rig and the Beatscape synth. Beatscape is a separate installer in two files: 03_Beatscape_1_0_2.part1.exe and 03_Beatscape_1_0_2.part2.rar. All of the content of Beatscape is included in X3 Producer "Loops and One Shots" albeit organized differently. The X1 Producer download files may not be in the same link as X1 Producer Expanded. The X1 Producer download may be on a separate page, lLook for links around the same time frame as the X1 purchase.

The X2 install must be run from 02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1.exe with all 4 parts in the same directory. V-Vocal will require installing the X2 SONAR Program using the advanced install option. R-Mix and VC-64 are separately selectable plug-ins in the advanced install pick list. There is nothing else unique to X2 Producer. The light version of BREVERB is included in X3 Producer.

IIRC there were issues using IE and file extensions of download files. Consider verifying the files using the md5 hashes provided in the link at the bottom of http://www.cakewalk.com/S...tallation-Instructions

When you've fixed it buy a large external hard drive and something like Acronis 2015 and then never look back. My life has been saved at least twice but you must remind yourself to do regular backups and create a bootable CD. Cheers...

Thanks for the info on X1, I couldnt remember what was in that...Where is Rmix btw?

Anyway, am using Chrome and all Dl'd OK but still got the "previous package" error....so i moved the files from the User folder in case Windows 8 was being troublesome with permissions but to no avail.
I have located the X2 installs on my NAS box lurking in some dark corner so will try those and report back....

Incidentally, i am now running Win 8.1 so.......lets see. (Have tried running the install as admin etc)

@Alex, my Buffalo has saved my beef many a time

NOT so happy with Windows 8 imaging restore yesterday and today tho, its surprisingly fussy as hell and although I can mount a VXDF file to read my OS data, its not much use bringing back my software installs, and Komplete 9 Ultimate takes 2000 years BC to install.

Not to mention all the other plugs and codecs and things that I have forgotten I need until I need them.

Back on topic, version on my NAS works but the Store version doesnt, using Chrome etc....

Just sayin.

I have had anti-virus software interfere with a prior Sonar download, using Chrome.
