  • Non-ProChannel Plugs Worth Putting in the ProChannel? (p.4)

The ProChannel was very limited in X1. Even with X1 Expanded, the FX chains could only be used in the FX bin. The ProChannel became a suitable replacement for the FX bin starting with X2.

The ProCh grew on me and it has been my preference for a while but I'd like to see on off buttons  in the console view for every FX enabled. I haven't jumped on all modules available except the occasional special I have managed to catch.

I do like it, but I'd like to see a fav from an old board I used in the good ol days.
It was an Image Width Control of the SSL 611S on the Stereo channel module.

I too have used the FX bin for additional FX and the FX chain is something for me to explore as well.

Interesting - what you describe doesn't work if the FX chains are in the FX bin, but it DOES work if they're in the ProChannel.

What I described is what I do when the FX chains are in the bin. I never tried it with FX chains in the ProChannel because I figured if it didn't work in the bins, it wouldn't work in the PC.

So, now you've shown me something I didn't know...thanks!

That's the beauty of these forums! :) Seriously, I'm really glad you showed me the workaround you were using. Judging from another post - you get that two clicks introduces just a bit of time and a little bit of thought and can affect the AB process - especially if the differences are subtle. Being able to close my eyes and just toggle will be awesome. I like the idea of toggling a bunch of times without counting so that I don't know which chain I'm using, then do the critical listening of AB...

That's exactly what I do when trying to compare signal processors etc. I guess it's the closest one person can come to blind testing.

I would like to see a convolution reverb pro channel.... Where you could drag IR from browser to the PC fo seamles integration...

Channel tool would be a nice addition but is it pretty easy to create one?

"As you may have gathered, I like the ProChannel, and think the implementation of PC FXChains was a stroke of genius."

jb101 - I second that!

I do wish there was a way to have a single button to toggle between two different FX Chains to A/B different approaches to a track...

There's a workaround for that.

1. Clone the track. Insert the FX chain "A" in one track, and the FX chain "B" in the other.
2. Turn on one track's mute switch.
3. Group the mute switches for both tracks.

Now when you enable one mute switch the other will turn off, and vice-versa.

Show me where, in any tutorial, what all grouping can apply to!!!!!!!

How can this not be the topic of a way long, way slow, extremely explicit, video, for all to view?

I use the Izotope Stereo Image plugin (from Ozone 5).  The best tool for it's designed purpose in my opinion.
For quick easy delays I often use Audio Damage's Dubstation.
When getting creative I use SugarBytes Effectrix and Blue Cat Audio's MB-7 mixer.
I also make extensive use of the Soundtoys plugins, superb.

These, of course, are inserted into the Pro Channel FX Chain module where I've created custom controls to quickly access the parameters I most frequently use.  I love the FX Chain module, and would absolutely love more Pro Channel modules…please

Being able to switch in an A/B fashion makes it easier to do comparisons...you don't have a time when both are on at the same time, or both are off at the same time. But yes indeed...many ways to skin the cat, that's for sure.

You had to bring cat skinning into this didn't you Craig?

Thanks for starting this thread.  Lot of good info.  I asked this back when the PC was first introduced but I'll ask again.  What's the possibility of getting presets for the individual PC modules?  I can't see how this would be a bad thing.
