What you have listed already Craig are good suggestions.  I honestly do not use the FX Bin much any more, other than when I drop in an Amp Sim.  I like the PC and adding the FX Chain box because I can see exactly in the signal chain where everything is placed.

What still throughs me all the time is the Pre and Post on the PC.  When ever I have something in the FX Bin and PC going at the same time, the plug in the FX Bin will not be reacting for me the way I want.  It will take me forever to remember to check to see if I switched the PC to Post and it never fails that is my issue.

Bring up the Console view for a quick look (I keep it docked in the background, and type "D" to toggle it in and out). There's a Post button in the PC section of the channel strip.

This has been an issue for me as well... All solutions require extra "work"...

Simply adding a pre/post button to the PC header is a better solution for me...

Especially as clinging a track loses the post setting when cloning tracks... I always get annoyed when I forget to reset this after cloning a guitar track or such when I have an amp sim in the bin and want the PC after it...

Yes, I could start using the fx chains to add the device inside the PC in it's desired position... I guess that would be a way around this issue?

The ProChannel was very limited in X1. Even with X1 Expanded, the FX chains could only be used in the FX bin. The ProChannel became a suitable replacement for the FX bin starting with X2.

I guess I agree that I really should be simply using fx bins in the PC more often... That would probably save me a bunch of work... I wonder why I feel so reluctant to do so much of the time?

I'm gonna start doing this more often and see how it feels for me...

Thanks for getting me over this issue...

It would be cool if ther was some way to force VST graphics to conform to PC needs and then be able to load VST modules individually and visibly... That would save me a lot of time...

Pardon me if I've strayed from the thread...

As far as individual modules to add? That's a tough one as we all work so differently... And own different 3rd party plugins...

Personally, I'm very pleased and satisfied with the current roster of PC plugins... And then some. Coming from the old analog world of consoles, it was a big issue when EQ was added to channels/boards to begin with... Then later people adding compressors too.... These are the two most basic additional devices we use...

So I for one would rather the Bakers spend their' time working on other aspects than creating more PC modules...

I'm used to picking a board I like which accommodates my basic needs, then use outboard devices as needed/desired...

The fx chains are a great step in this as they allow us very versatile placement of our exta devices instead of standing in a stack on the producer's desk with patch cords running to the patch bay...

Channel Tools? That would be a great device to always have on all tracks... But I'd end up needing to move it's position much of the time... First/last... And as we can save our own PC configuration for defaults, it's simple enough to add any VST devices and have them in the PC as personal likes for each of us...

As to having devices take up room in the PC? Simple enough to expose/hide any module from it's header.... Maybe making the header narrower?

"As you may have gathered, I like the ProChannel, and think the implementation of PC FXChains was a stroke of genius."

jb101 - I second that!

I guess I'm with you guys on this... It really is an elegant solution to the dilemma we were all dealing with prior to fx chains in the PC!

Interesting read.  I have to admit I was still using the old-fashioned FX Bin for everything until I read through this, and I've just spent some time revamping a mix with FX Chains in the Pro Channel.  I think I'm gonna like that workflow, even if I only use it as a container more than I use the actual controls in the FX Chain.  One thing I've always disliked is how cramped the FX bin is.  Kind of a cool feature I never worked with due to some fear of new bugs or some incompatibility with UAD, but it seems to be working pretty well so far.

The ProCh grew on me and it has been my preference for a while but I'd like to see on off buttons  in the console view for every FX enabled. I haven't jumped on all modules available except the occasional special I have managed to catch.

I do like it, but I'd like to see a fav from an old board I used in the good ol days.
It was an Image Width Control of the SSL 611S on the Stereo channel module.

I too have used the FX bin for additional FX and the FX chain is something for me to explore as well.

That is a great idea. I am very much for that.

Assuming I understand what you want, Channel Tools does that very well. You can narrow the image to mono, spread "stereo" over any part of the stereo field (e.g., from center to right), narrow stereo to be more mono, etc.

Agreed Craig. And Channel Tools does this very well. There are also many third party plugs that do this also. Each with it's own set of features for doing the same thing.

This is golden info. Thanks to all but please don`t call the Pro Channel PC.
You know PC is used for Personal Computer.
