  • What is Best choice for creating MIDI drum track by a NON drummer?

To be really specific, I'm not a drummer at all, but I can pound out a great rhythm with my bare hands.
So I looked at creating an audio track of my hands beating on a desk, and then converting to MIDI.

Someone suggested DrumaGog 5, which will convert analog impulses to MIDI on the fly.

The other thought was a percussion module with pads that will react very well to my hands, not sticks. I can't use sticks
any more than chop sticks!

What might possibly be the best thing to go with?

I've got and use one of these which is really useful for the sort of thing you want to do.

Here's an interesting product that I have been wondering about.  If you just don't want to use a pad controller for whatever reason:

I haven't used this software but I am intrigued by it.

The last two options seem cool until I stretch my arm to far and "miss" the intended drum.

why pound your hands sore?  just use AddDrums and drag a midi drum section that u like into the track.

Do you have a midi keyboard with pads on it?  You can map the pads to the corresponding keys in Session Drummer or Addictive Drums and drum with your fingers.

Trouble is hands don't bounce like sticks do, so a lot of what a drummer does can't easily be played with hands.

The best I've found is a pad-style MIDI controller played with fingertips. That way rapid repeat strikes are possible.

Failing that, Jamstix.

Or do as I did and marry a pecussionist/drummer with a good sense of timing.....

If you are going to use your hands then an Akai MPD18 drum pad may help"

I have one and it does the trick for me, except I use sticks!
