Is there a setting to stop Sonar from converting VSTs to VST3 when you open an older project? Some VST3s just don't work as well as others.

If you've a VST2 and VST3 of the same tool, just go to the VST3 directory and remove it from there, if you only want to use the VST2 version.

Preferences>VST settings>VST3 Migration
couple of check boxes there.
Also you can exclude plugins in Plugin Manager.
Or, Rob is right move the dll's of VST3 plugs you don't want to use.
Of course, excluding or moving would make them unavailable to new projects.
BitFlipper once said; "Who needs VST3 anyway?" I think I have that right.
ARA requires that Melodyne be VST3?

I thought there was a check box to tell Sonar whether or not to replace X2 VST's with X3 VST's.

Maybe I am wrong - am away from where I can look into it at the moment.

I never thought about moving the VST3 file from it's folder. That's a good idea. I check the VST setting as well.

Thank you!

Here is the documentation that shows the check box to tell Sonar what to do or not do with regard to VST 2 and VST 3 versions of plugins:

This should take care of it for you, as far as I can tell.

I really like the automatic categorization of VST3, and the fact that I can sidechain most relevant plugs.
