I have Sonar X1 and need to install on a new computer because of a crash. I downloaded from the website but it will not register. Is this because of the aquisition or am I doing something wrong.

Sonar X1 had no online authorization. You should see required Registration code in
https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Products
(after you have logged it).
If X1 is not listed there (I wonder from where you have downloaded it then), write to the support. It still exist.

Thanks for the reply. I have the registration code i obtained from my account. The software does not complete on installation after download and generates this error code.      unable to register the DLL/OCX:RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3.

You prolly need the CD (or was it DVD?)

You need Widows updates.
I would prioritize the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 update first.
