Hi guys, does anyone know if you can change the default send level. I would find it easier if I inserted a send and it was turned all the way down. It would be easier when adding a reverb, for example while your track is playing and you feel like a guitar needs some reverb just insert the send and you can start to bring the send level up, rather than inserting a send and having to turn down the send level before turning it up again.
Thanks
Andrew

It sounds to me to be 6 in one hand half dozen in the other. Either way you still need to adjust the send level.

I don't know of a way to change the default send level.

The Send Assistant has an option to "Match Track's Pan and Gain." I suppose Cakewalk could add another check box for "insert with zero send level" if enough people considered it really important.

I know it seems strange request but for the way I work it would be great, When I'm doing a mix I will have the chorus on repeat, and I'll be changing my listening perspective to different things and if I feel an instrument needs a bit of verb I would like to insert the send while the track is playing and start to bring the send level up gradually to where I want it to be, As it is, if I insert the send while the track is playing I will have too much verb on the track, I have to quickly turn the send level down then start the process of bringing in the send level, but that intial burst of verb can be slightly off putting. It's a minor minor issue, was just wondering if it was possible. Thanks Guys.

The same thing for me, so vote +1 :)

I guess every control in Sonar could potentially have a default value option - but if they did, the number of available options would quickly get out of hand. So they have to make decisions on what can and can't be customized. I can't see them creating a default send level option, but I agree the default unity level is nearly always too much when you turn it on while playing. I doubt they would set it to zero as default as you'd want to give the listener some kind of audible feedback when a send is activated. I'd be happy with a compromise whereby it was set to -6.0 or something like that.

If the send level came on at 0, I wonder how many forum threads would have the title "Sonar BUG!! Sends are broken!!"

Until the feature is added, to avoid the scramble to adjust send volume:
0) Create a bus in the project template, output set to none.

1) When adding new sends or buses always add them to the bus created in #0
2) Turn down the send level
3) Reassign the send to the real send
4) Bring up the send level

Or...

1. Press stop.
2. Insert bus, turn down send volume.
3. Press Play.

You would have to be very fast to not notice the abrupt volume change. A volume change which may be more disturbing than the original problem.
