I'm just curious how many of y'all keep your console view docked and how many undock it? I used to always undock and keep it on a second monitor. I recently went through an entire mix using Kenny Gioia's Mixing Rock video as a tutorial (excellent video, by the way). But it kind of forced me to keep it docked (using Shift/ D to show it and hide it) and keep Kenny's videos on the second monitor. And I think I now prefer keeping it docked. Really pretty slick and effortless once you force yourself to do it. Just thought I'd throw the discussion out there.

I do both. Still prefer to run it on a second monitor but on my laptop I Shift+D. It's true, it's pretty slick once you get used to it, you don't have to move your head and mouse and reorient yourself.

I'm a fan of having it undocked and on a second screen.  For me I think it has a lot to do with working on track groups.  I like being able to see the wave forms in the Track View on the main monitor with the console displaying the track group on the right. That's just me though......

On my mobile rig I too make use of shift+D.  I also have a screenset configured so that only the console (in the multi dock), timeline and control bar are visible, the inspector and browser have been undocked and removed.  I also make sure to hide any tracks/busses that I don't need to see to keep the clutter to a minimum.

On my desktop setup I keep the multi dock in place on my main monitor and float the console on my second monitor.

well dang... so simple, obvious... and opened up a whole new world for me on my 27" pair.
Next need to find monitors without *frames* around them. (so when you butt them together, side by side)   I guess they exist?

well....some skinny borders I'm seeing... but mine are less than an inch...so nothing would be the next step for the new monitors without frames/borders

Ideally I have mind full screen on the second monitor, but sometimes I'll start a project with it docked on the first screen and for some reason (probably laziness) I'll just leave it there. I quite enjoy the change, it's almost like you develop a different approach to working. And the problem with having both screens full is that doing anything non-Sonar related (like using Explorer, or reading a manual) is a pain in the butt. Ideally I'd like a third screen, but having said that I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 touchscreen laptop which folds backwards into an A-frame shape and is great for having by my side to watch videos and read manuals.

You're not allowed to use internet on your DAW anyway, hadn't you heard?
