Hi All!

I downloaded Kontakt Player 5.7.3 into my new computer a few months ago (ASUS laptop, Windows 10, 24GB RAM). The standalone version runs as 5.7.3... But when I try to use it as a plugin in Sonar Professional, it runs as 5.7.0, which means some libraries won't work with it!

There were no other versions of Kontakt on this computer, so I don't know where this is coming from, or what I can do to get the latest version to run in Sonar. Windows 10 Nightmare Glitch? Gremlins? Demonic possession? Hope you can help...

Many thanks,
Richard

Is it possible the new version of k player installed in a different folder than the original version did? If the update installed correctly, it should overwrite the old version and Sonar just opens kontakt like always, only now it's the new version of kontakt.

I've updated kontakt player a few times while it was already part of a Sonar project, and Sonar didn't have the issue you're describing--but I let the kontakt update determine the folders that it installs to as its default--so it always overwrites the old version.

Hi Razor,
Thanks for weighing in so quickly! Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case.   5.7.3 was the first and only version I downloaded into this computer, and I'm running new projects that never had Kontakt in them. It runs as 5.7.3 as standalone... I wonder if it's a Windows 10 thing. Puzzling indeed.
Thanks again and best regards,
Richard

It is not a Windows 10 thing. You have two different versions of Kontakt co-residing on your drive.

What probably happened is you recently installed only the standalone executable but not the VST plugins. If that's the case, then the next-most-likely scenario is that you installed the newer DLLs in a location different from where SONAR is looking for plugins.

Thanks Bitflipper!

I only installed Kontakt Player once on this computer, from their most recent Player download file, and just let it install itself where it wants. Runs fine as a plugin, just as the older version! There were no previous versions on the drive; I bought the computer new and downloaded/installed a couple days thereafter. I've scoured the drive for any evidence of Kontakt and/or its dlls anywhere, and haven't found 5.7.0 anywhere. I wonder if at this point I should uninstall/reinstall, but I'm afraid I might lose stuff.  I'm not a noob per se, but a noob to this kinda Kontakt issue. Ugh...

Many thanks again!
