In X3 Studio timeline view, the way mine is currently set, the view will not follow the cursor automatically through the song.  The cursor can only be seen until it gets to the end of the particular section in the view and if I want to see the timeline further I must manually move the linear bar at the bottom of that view screen.  Is there a way to set this so that the view will follow the cursor automatically?

We've all done it by accident. Try turning "Scroll lock" off on your keyboard.

Thanks, but my keyboard doesn't have a scroll lock key.  I bought this Logitech wireless keyboard back last September.  It has no number lock either, but it has no numeric side (numbers are all on top).  The right side has a touch pad instead of numbers.  Anyway, something weird just happened.  I went back into the project I was previously working on that didn't scroll  and suddenly it started scrolling!  Computers are so weird sometimes.
