Hi Cake friends,

Is there a way of moving my Cakewalk Content Folder to another HD?
I am using a 128 Tb SSD hd C drive and it is almost full!
I saw that on the Cakewalk Command Center there is a folder location for downloading and if I change it after everything is done it will work? Or I have to manually move and them reassign it?

Thank you very much.

For moving folders from one drive to another, directory junctions are my favorite method. In addition to the links provided in the message above,  here is a discussion about moving "Cakewalk Content" using directory junctions.

Here's what I did:

(1) Open Command Center.
(2) Go to Settings -> Paths tab.
(3) Change Content Path from C:\Cakewalk Content to D:\Cakewalk Content.
(4) Click Save and wait several minutes while it moved the folder to D:.

Now the folder is moved, and Command Center knows the new location. So do I need to create a junction? Is there some other process that needs to know about the move?

No, that is the method supplied by Cakewalk. It changes to the registry and the Cakewalk Content change does not revert to the default setting when the Command Center connection is reset.

That said, I prefer to make the changes outside of Cakewalk. As far as Cakewalk programs are concerned, they are using their default values. Unlike Cakewalk Content, changing the Download Path in the Command Center lasts only as long as the Command Center is logged in. Logging out and back in to the Command Center resets Download Path to the default. IOW, by leaving Cakewalk (and other programs) at their default settings and manipulating the paths with directory junctions may be a more reliable way of relocating data.
