I'd like to suggest a few features that, if added to Plugin Manager, would make for a much better tool.

1.  Search -  This would really help in troubleshooting plugins.  Maybe by plugin name, date installed, Company, ect.

2.  New Plugin Highlighter - The most recently added plugins could be highlighted, sort of like windows does in Start>Programs, when new programs are installed.   This would make adding new plugins to layouts, much faster.

3.  Color code for 32/64bit plugins -  This is available in the media browser section, but would also really help in the Plugin Manager.

I moved this to the appropriate area.
I would suggest however that suggestions be handled one at a time. Batching up ideas in a single thread makes them difficult to discuss.

Thanks for moving the thread to the correct area, though having ideas in a single thread seems to makes more sense to me, than multiple threads on the same topic.

I'm all for updating the plugin manager.
I think the 3 that you mentioned Dave are a good start.
Now, if we could only get them grouped in categories so that creating lists are more straightforward it would be much better.

I already get different colors for the 32/64 bit plugins, don't you?

Not in Plugin Manager.   I do get the colors in the Media Browser

Really useful idea Dave

I would also like to add, please for gods sake give us the ability to select more than 2 plugs at a time when creating and moving to a folder.

Having said that, I only just recently discovered that creating a "real" folder within the Cakewalkvst plugins folder actually creates one in the plug in manager too so I've been doing that but am not entirely comfortable with moving the .dll files to other locations.

I'd like the option to see icons instead of names for synths, including third party synths. Studio One 3 had this when I demoed it, if I recall correctly. The icons would be similar to the screen grab icons for project saves that show in Sonar's new startup screen.

I know the Plugin manager auto-sorts VST3's by their category/function already which is primarily how I prefer to search for plugins (especially effects).  The unfortunate downside is that there are still a TON of plugins that are VST2 only and don't get the benefits of these category/function sort feature.  I'm curious if the meta-info is there in the VST2 containers but simply wasn't implemented in the Plugin manager coding for VST2 scanning?
