So, I have this image of a mad scientist "cooking" up something in his Bandlab...

Cooks works for me.

And I wonder what the entry-price of Sonar will be?

our steadfast goal is that former SONAR owners (of all versions) will not need to spend any money to cross-over/cross-grade to the future flagship product.

Since the new owner is  called bandlab-
the people who are busy in development could be called
the Alchemists or the Catweazles.

Sonar wasn't really a good name in the first place. It just grew on me. Let's keep it Sonar unless you can think of something else. Anyway, how did it get the name Sonar

I like Sonar, I think it is a good name and has held the test of time. Cakewalk on the other hand is a terrible name, and old fashioned, from a horrible history.

I agree, Sonar still sounds modern and relevant.  Cakewalk (while I'm a huge fan of the products they created) has been a dated brand name for a very long time now.  I would always use the name "Sonar" when talking about or recommending the brand.

Good example why the alchemist fits perfect.

To be serious, I think to call the sonar developers "bakers " is perfect.

Well... if they have to choose just one, between "Cakewalk" and "Sonar", I stay with the first...
Cakewalk is the historical name.
