Obviously, they can't ignore money. I think there's more to why they do it, but it has to be part of it at least.

So, aside from coffee cups and t-shirts, what software changes would you be willing to take out your wallet for?

For me, I would pay for Rapture/Rapture-Pro spin sets of voices to different threads/processes so that the load can be spread over processors. I'll bet I'd pay $100 for that.

How about you? What would make you take out your wallet?

I'd like to see some bugs fixed in the core product, which I don't really fancy paying for... unless it's part of an overall product upgrade.

What I would like to see though, is some pay-for add on modules along the lines of the SoftTube Console 1 integration, such as:
1. Pro Channel support for audio devices that have built in EQ, dynamics etc (RME UFX, Tascam 20x20 etc)
2. Integration with specific 3rd party software such as notation editors, wave editors etc
3. Project export support to other vendors, so support collaboration (although I think azslow is taking a fantastic lead here already) - I'd pay per program

I'd also pay for more content / media clips etc.

I would pay $299.97 to upgrade my Platinum Lifetime if ProChannel disappeared, the inspector panel vanished, and the phase and stereo interleave buttons reappeared on the track headers where they belong.

I'd give another $100, or so, if a new Theme Editor could edit the stuff it can't.

Maybe more.

These things would probably make me leave Sonar! I love ProChannel and the inspector panel!

Little ones:

25 € - crossfade on/off status icon/button
25 € - ripple edit mode status icon/button
30 € if SONAR saves last opened project file immediately after project is opened (to save it in recent files in case of crash)
10 € - clicking big track icon to open soft synth on an instrument track (currently the little icon works only)

Me too.

I would like t see theme editor finished though. I spent way too much time creating a completely new Control bar, but if I paid for Theme Editor, I'd feel compelled to do another. So probably best that's not an option.

I would pay for the ability to drag and drop and edit and mapping of my own samples into Rapture, making it a sampler.

Since Sonar X1 I've either bought the updates or subscribed - if the product remains essentially the same and prices are reasonable I don't see why I'd change. Prior to X1 I skipped a few updates now and then.

I'd like to see fixes and refinement to the existing features.  I'd be willing to pay for that.  Step sequencer, drum maps, notation editor, MIDI comping, arpeggiator, ACT, and MIDI plugins could all use some love.  Gapless audio engine would be nice.  Browser improvements. . . the browser is stuck in the 90's.  Stability improvements would be great.

Me too. I already have Studio One if Sonar is not going to continue on with PC. PC is what sets it aside from the competition. You can always close PC in Sonar if you don’t want to use it. Others don’t have the convience of the PC.

I'd pay $100 for a PRV that had all the great functionality and hot keys and the *stronger reliable colours* of 2017.01 and previous, combined with the newer (post 2017.01) controller pane, as long as the controller pane had a quick and easy right there in front of you way of showing hiding lanes.

PRV Hot Keys I'm thinking of:
1) untick 1 or more tracks colour to unshow it in the PRV - hit V to invert the selection which hides all other tracks and shows the one you just unticked - then hit A to reshow all.
Wiping a mouse over a long list of tracks to show hide or having to do 3 or more mouse clicks to use a filter is not nearly as fast.
Also SHFT+C should Show / Hide the controller pane.

I'd pay an other $100 for an interface that remembers every nuance of everything - everywhere (all of it!!!) where you left everything in every screenset without having to lock the screenset
or if that's not possible I'd still pay $100 for a hot key that locks/unlocks screensets combined with a screenset panel that shows locked and unlocked as different colours, as long as the screenset locking is
bullet proof, written in granite with a titanium chisel, reliable.

I'd pay an other $100 for Console View Folders combined with a Track Manager that is the same interface for all 3 views (PRV, TV and CV) but doesn't demand that TV and CV be the same, and that works all the time without exception in each view. - Must NOT necessitate Track View and Console View be the same.

I'd add an other $25.00 if
for all of the above if there was *No Lost Functionality* that is present in 2017.01!

Let's round that off to $324.99!
