High guys!
New here, but Cakewalk user since 1998.
I've been using X3 (PE) for a few years now. I see there is aux routing capability introduced in platinum, but honestly have no interest in upgrading. Hoping some of you had figured out a work around for creating aux tracks prior to the Patch Points update and can share with me some of your techniques. <For example: inserting a side-chain-able plug in (like a Pro-C 2) on an empty track, send or output signal from existing audio track/s to the side chain and solo the sidechain input in the plugin>
Does anybody here know any better methods of accomplishing this effect? Have there been any plugins developed specifically for this purpose?
I don't mind sending all my drums or guitars to a drum bus or guitar bus down below, but it can be annoying and limiting if I just want some parallel compression, for example, on a snare, to either copy/paste and have two snare tracks, unable to run effects in series from one track to another, or sending several snare tracks to a snare bus down bellow. Ideally all my snare tracks are stacked next to each other in the tracks view and sent to a (cheat/rigged) aux 'SNARE' track.
Any and all ideas about this welcome.
Thanks so much!!

OK  is the plugin.

It works as expected, with one caveat... If you solo the track bus, Sonar will not solo the tracks feeding into the track bus. To get around this, solo the whole folder, or group the solo buttons together.

To use:
  • Unzip the files.
  • Copy either/both the 32-bit or 64-bit files somewhere into your VST3 folders.
  • Let Sonar do a scan.
  • The plugin shows up under Plugins > Audio FX > VST3 > Sidechain Mixer (or wherever you put it).
  • Drag/drop the plugin into the FX bin of the track that you want to convert to a bus.
  • Set the output of any other track to "Sidechain Mixer(Input 2)-[track bus name].

I only tested the 64-bit version so let me know if the 32-bit version doesn't work.

BTW you can also send sends into the track bus.

Thanks bluzdog...
That thread lead me to another thread, which lead me to another thread, which lead me to this ^ the hypothetical plugin I was hoping someone created.
JIC anyone else is looking for such a thing, there it is. Thanks to silktone as well.
EDIT: link didn't seem to copy, plugin is here:
EDIT AGAIN: guess no links? here's the thread:
THIRD EDIT: I guess I don't understand how to put a link in here or even how to link to another thread. oh well.
