Are you asking for ways to learn about setting 8 inputs and outputs in Music Creator 7 or how to use the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8r interface?  You might want to check out the tutorial videos that ships with Music Creator or Cake TV for Music Creator 7 and M-Audio's website for the Fast Track.

Sorry if I did not make it clear. I was thinking of setting up the 8 inputs in music creator.

andi,

I'm still using Music Creator 6 so my advice is general but may prove useful.  You'll need to perform these steps; download and install the newest M-Audio device ASIO drivers onto your computer.  Connect the M-Audio device then start Music Creator 7.  Typically you connect the M-Audio device then start Music Creator so the M-Audio device is active and can be recognized by Music Creator.  This link details how to select an ASIO driver in Music Creator 7 http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Music%20Creator%207&language=3&help=AudioPerformance.17.html  Create a new project and either select the eight audio tracks template or create eight audio tracks.  You can use the track view or console view to select track inputs.  Click on a track input and a pop-up menu will display all your choices.  You will have eight M-Audio selections as well as the selections from your computer sound card.  You will want to select a different M-Audio input selection for each audio track.

At this point you should be able to arm the eight audio tracks, set levels, name, color code and group the tracks.  Once you have all that done I would save the session as a template.  That way you will not have to repeat all that effort every time.  You might also want to label the eight inputs on your M-Audio device so you'll match inputs to your track names.

Most Cakewalk programs ship with some instrument definitions. These are lists of all the patches in many popular MIDI keyboards, drum machines and sound modules so you can select the device's patches in Cakewalk instead of on the device.
If you do not have one of those devices, it doesn't matter if they load. If there is a "Do Not Show Me This Again" box in the message, check it and you won't have to see it again.
If you do have one of those devices and want to use it's ID, then we'll have to figure out why it doesn't load.
What keyboard/drum machine/sound module are you using?
By the way, this should have been a separate thread since your question has nothing to do with the original post.
And welcome to the forum!
