Now let's say you make a stereo recording with one side a guitar and the other side vocals, poof there ya go, two tracks on one channel. Do this 8 times and you have 16 tracks.

Plus you can use the splitter function and split the effects so you can have different effects on each channel. Sure sounds a lot easier than simply hitting the bank key to get the next 8 fader banks...

I would NEVER consider my FP 1, which I love dearly, to be anything more than a single channel controller.

Can we agree that the FaderPorts are really nice, regardless the number of channels?

No problem I can agree these faderports are fabulous. You don't realize how nice they are until you've actually used one. I love mine. It links my whole studio up with me..It runs perfect with Studio One 3, My EastWest Symphonic Orchestra sample set, my Ivory II piano samples, my monitor sounds....it's all linked together now thru the Studio One program and controlled by the Faderport 8...it's a fabulous setup !!!!!!!!!!!!The workflow is so easy...I can accomplish so much in a very short time....

I just bought a used one off Reverb. Should be here tomorrow or tuesday.

One thing that I disliked about SONAR was it's lack of well-implemented control surface support. I am almost through a 12-part YouTube series by Jonny Geib about how to use all the features of the FP8 and I can't wait to see how well it works in Studio One. I think I made the right choice switching here.

Thanks for mentioning the Jonny Gelb videoes, I watched them all and now have a much better understanding of the FP8.

There was luck of interest (I mean the number of people who was interested). But there was quite good implementation

After watching those videos, I am quite certain there is nothing for SONAR that even comes close to the incredibly deep level of integration that the FP8 has with Studio One.

Report back when you get it. I'd like to know how that works out for you. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to layout my workspace since adding the FP8. I don't have a "proper" mixing desk... just using a six-foot folding table and I need to figure out what to do with my keyboard!

I'm really liking the FP but it's amazing how used to going totally KB/mouse I have gotten in only about 18 months year since switching to a PC DAW from my VS2480!
