Since i started using Sonar X3 i have been having a problem here,as soon as i press the keys on my midi controller and stop,those notes that i pressed will keep moving with the time cursor and overlap on new ones as i change chords, i hope someone will understand what i am talking about, I am so frustrated to the extent that i now resort to entering the notes manually through the piano roll and its time consuming, Please help

Not sure I really understand what you mean... But check that you do not have loops in MIDI routes:
try to disabled all hardware MIDI outputs in Sonar preferences, check that VSTi have no "MIDI Output" enabled (it is always enabled by default for all VSTi supporting that, use "VST2" / "VST3" menu in plug-in GUI to check/disable).

Could it be that it is not switching of the key when released?

Most likely, you are in loop record mode and you keep cycling through the same time range.

Another likely issue is that you have a MIDI feedback loop e.g. you have a MIDI output connected back to a MIDI input.

If your controller has a MIDI input, unplug the cable from the input and see if the problem goes away.

Exactly on point! It is like that,currently i use Roland E09 that uses only MIDI Cable and like you said,the MIDI in connects with the MIDI out from the keyboard, in the previous version i was using a Berringer MIDI controller and it was fine,i used the cable that we normally use for connecting printers, Thanks a lot

If your keyboard has on-board sounds, you will also want to go into its settings and turn the parameter "Local" to Off.  Otherwise, pressing a note on the keyboard triggers a note locally, and another will get triggered through the midi data coming back into the keyboard through Sonar. 
 
This doubling is avoided when Local is Off, because it tells the keyboard not to respond directly to notes being pressed, and rather, will allow the midi data coming back into the keyboard to be what triggers notes.

Thank you so much,yes i have just turned it off like you said and its working, I even changed the key board yesterday thinking that the midi cables were the cause of the problem,guys you saved me,i was so frustrated,i have learnt a lot from your comments,i will always come back here whenever i come across a problem
