"...our steadfast goal is that former SONAR owners (of all versions) will not need to spend any money to cross-over/cross-grade to the future flagship product."

Doesn't this mean we can cross over to their BandLab platform (enhanced with the newly acquired Sonar code and plugins)? Why would BandLab release Sonar in its present form and compete with themselves meaning, compete with their own flagship product (i.e. BandLab)?

Their product is online and free.  It's really apples and oranges. Maybe they want to compete with the other developers.

Studio One is a great program but immature and missing many things.

In all likelihood, things that the vast majority of users don't actually need.

Why do you say that?

Quick question - which version of Studio One did you try? I'd be surprised to find that the "Professional" version is missing important features. On the other hand, I'd expect the "Free" and "Artist" versions to be stripped down - they should be missing features to encourage upgrading.

I purchased Studio One 3 Professional. I was a bit overwhelmed by Cubase at the time and I got it because I heard it has an easy workflow. It is an easy workflow and a very well though out program with a bright future. However, I found it missing several basic things I need. It’s been a while and I really can’t remember all of them but the main thing was drum maps. You can have little diamonds and name each note but you can’t actually map anything. Also no OMF support. I’ll fire it up and see if I can remember other stuff. Anyway I went back to Cubase 9 and am happily at home there now.

Thank you for having the patience to politely continue stating the obvious over and over without your head blowing up!  Good news should be enjoyed; patience is a virtue.

Yes I had all of those but they are just note names. AFAIK you can’t map a note to a different note or a different channel or a different VSTi? Do you know how to do that?

We are definitely happy about the news, We've tried a few other DAWS in the last couple of weeks and there is no comparison most all of the others fall short in functionality right out of the box I'll stick with my Platinum Its awesome to the maximus Thanks Bandlab for keeping it going.

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!
Have you seen the band camp stuff ? Merging their IP with Sonar is a HUGE WIN for us Sonar users. I'm ecstatic !
Sonar Supports VST3 and MPE !!!! AWESOME for the users of Roli's, Linnstruments, Haaken Continuums and Geoshred. Even the new releases of Live 10 and Studio One won't support MPE.

I cannot wait to see how the guys in Singapore are going utilize the new IP... Sonar has always been years ahead of the competition, BandLab should have a rockin' future !  I'm stoked.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk]
There is no "Gibson activation" site. Activation is handled both by the application and the Cakewalk webside back end.
BandLab have acquired all assets and that includes the website and back end. So nothing is going to happen to existing activation's during or after the transition to BandLab. If you choose the reinstall the software the same activation process with apply as before.
If we choose to change how this is done in the future of course we're going to make sure that existing customers are not affected so there is no need for needless worry.

Thank you so much Noel for explaining and clarifying those points as that's extremely reassuring to know being a Sonar Platinum user.
