SO the day of reckoning has come. Sonar stands back on it's feet. I even saw the main screen and it looks modern with a lick of Sonar still presented. It looks clean and new. That's just the remodelled website. I can almost see a new more up to date even futuristic GUI not that the one we have is bad. Again, I am surprised even speechless a modern company with history has taken the helm and is steering the ship into clear waters. This is a turn up for the books. Will they advertise correctly looks like they will. Not only have they mentioned it but looks like they were doing work in the background before they announced it. That in itself is incredible.

I still can't believe it.

You're looking at a stock Cakewalk photo on their site, it's a fairly recent (last couple of years) marketing photo of Sonar Platinum. It's not a screenshot of the "new" Sonar, because no "new" Sonar exists yet. I've seen that photo before, it was probably on the Cakewalk site for ages. Nothing has really been done to the site except an announcement page with a photo of the BandLab crew. I doubt whether a single line of new code has been written yet.

I'm shocked that company has invested so heavily. This new coded Sonar, will it align with the new crop of DAWS (In the last ten years) Bitwig, Studio One3. Its going to have to be lean and mean to compete cos the DAW has been flung wide open. It was okay when we Sonarites only had one DAW to go by but now we have something to compare with. That puts the cat amongst the pigeons. I am confident that they will move forward and look to improve Sonar and make it top grade. So lets wait and see what they do in the next few weeks to turn me into a Sonar believer again. My DAW of choice til then will still be Studio On3. I don't mind going back to Sonar if it is stable.
