Hi all!

I checked on my Studio Capture now and can confirm the same issue. Not working as expected.

Best Regards
Ludvig

Thanks, Ludvig! I am glad to know I am not alone with this issue. Are you having the same issues with having to unplug the power cable? That was my main annoyance until I figured out the workaround mentioned above. I have just never had an interface that I had to boot and shutdown this way. It works easy enough but just strange. Oh, well. May we hope for a firmware update soon for that feature.

Backwoods! I remembered the motorcyclist's name. Bert Munroe! I read about him when I was a teenager and a few years back they released a movie starring Anthony Hopkins about his experiences getting to the states and setting that record. Great movie. Is he recognized at all in New Zealand for his accomplishment? If not, that would be a shame. The name of the movie is "The Fastest Indian In The World".
Well, back to music. I'm really surprised that I got this many responses. If anyone happens to figure out a magic combination for the auto setting to be saved pleases post as quick as you can.

Hi sidroe. I love that movie. I was hoping you were going to say you had met him. He was supposed to be a very nice guy. One of these guys who loves mechanics and would just tinker around in his shed. There was another guy who lived near the area Burt did who some people say beat the Wright Brothers to flight. His name was I think Richard Pearce.

Backwoods,
Is there any park or street or memorial to Bert? It seems a shame if not. From what I read he was a wonderful man and a great example of persevering against the odds. Hats off to New Zealander know-how!
Music4me,
I haven't really any use for the shutdown feature since I found my work around but it would be nice to know that the product we bought in good faith gets the attention it needs to get it right. I'm hoping because of the buyout that we don't get left on the roadside.
I would still like to know if any of you are having problems with the interfaces locking up and not shutting down when you turn the computer off. That was my main problem. None of you have mentioned it so I am taking it that your shutdowns are normal. Unless I do it the way I described earlier I encounter the lockups.

Music4me, That's the problem. If I shutdown the computer before holding the power button in to shut the interface down the interfaces lock up and will not shut off. If I shut the interfaces off first and then power the computer down all is good. I haven't talked to Roland yet. I heard from a guy on the forum here in a previous thread that says the Octa-Capture does the same thing. I just take that as Roland is dropping the ball somewhere on their product line for the OCs and SCs. Like I stated before, I don't really have any use for that feature now that I figured out the combination. I never leave the gear running when I am not going to work with it anyway. And I don't get up and leave for any long amount of time so this scenario works for me.

Ludvig confirms he has the same issue. That makes me feel better that I'm not alone with this bug. I got a stupidly good discount by buying two of these. Then you get them in and installed and BANG! It still was quite an investment to make in gear that has this much of an issue. Oh, and I tried just one at a time to see if the daisy chaining had anything to do with it. Even one at a time, I have the same issue. Ludvig confirms he has only one SC and he has the same issue.
Music4me, I know what you are saying. I have had Edirol, MOTU, and Focusrite interfaces. I even helped a friend of mine setup a Tascam on his laptop and I have never had an interface that I had to shut down this way. While we are discussing this, the power up is just as weird!
If I turn on the interfaces first and then power up the computer, the computer never sees the interfaces! But if I power up the computer and let it get all the way to the desktop showing, I turn on the interfaces and the comp recognizes them with no problems at all.
Anyway, I can't help but feel that it will be a while before we get a firmware fix if at all.
