Hi All,

I was growing tired of turning off my powered speakers ( KRK Rokit 6's ) at the speakers. I bought a heavy duty remote device and have plugged them both into it. The "hub" is plugged into a breaker protected power strip.

The remote device is a short wired "hub" with two receptacles. The speakers plug into it. There is a remote control to turn the "hub" on and off.

Works like a charm. I was just wondering if anyone else uses this approach, and if they have had any problems.

Thanks for any information,

John

I use good old X10 tech for all my remote control needs.
Works a treat when it works!

I don't use a remote control, but I have several items (including speakers) connected through two of these rack-mounted power switch units:

My monitors are on a dedicated circuit, wall switch for on/off.
They're Adams, no "pops" when switched.

I guess I'm lucky to use old school intigrated power amps which have the "soft start"
I always turn my interfaces master volume off, but I leave the volume of the Technics intigrated amp at it's 12'oclock setting. Never hear a pop.
I have 2 Furman line conditioners daisy chained so one is a master switch. I also have one of these I use to power up things I don't use everyday, I have a couple of these I find at Goodwill for $10. They were for
the old systems that you had to power up in sequence marked , computer, printer, monitor ect.
If I ever buy powered speakers I'd use one of these.

It's a common complaint that the level and on/off are hard to get at on many peoples monitor set ups.
But choosing a monitor JUST because they were on the front is not exactly a great idea either.

Still leaves me wondering why the rear switch became the norm.
