  • TWO TRACKS PLAYING/RECORDING TOGETHER? How to fix this

Hello all,
I've got some experience with recording and have made a bit of progress, however, I've run into something strange and could really use some help.  I'm still using my Yamaha Motif 8 keyboard and have Music Creator 6 Touch.  Don't have a Touch computer so that was a mistake.  I've recorded some tracks but now one track is being played back when clearly I have another track selected only.  The Motif is not doing what I'm telling it to do, such as "track 9, you are bass, not Guitar.  It will not stay on BASS. It defaults to something else and reads "Bass" as a "Combination" of something.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, it seems like a simple thing and I think it's taunting me as I pull my hair out trying to make it right.  I'd be happy to give more details if anyone thinks they can help. THANKS!

Welcome to the forum.
How are you selecting the patch on the Motif? From the MIDI track pane or from the Motif?
Do you have the Instrument Definition for the Motif?
Is 'Local Control' off on the Motif?
What is the output of the MIDI track set to?
Selecting a track will not solo it, so you will hear all unmuted tracks.

Hello!

I'm selecting the patch from the Motif. Not sure about the Instrument Definition, I turned Local Control to off.  Even though I am on track 9 on MC and the Motif which is what I want to record Bass on, track #2 (a guitar) plays when I play notes on the keyboard.

I'm using: Yamaha Motif 8, Music Creator 6, Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, Windows 8.

thx much
