I'm not using Azlow3's software.  The X-Touch does everything I want it to do with the stock software.

@fireberd & riojazz: have you installed azslow3's dll/ini file to replace the standard mackie controller files?

Some users prefer stock over moded versions. I can try to commit the change into the official version, but that is some extra "work" (for me and CW), so it will probably stay separated for a while...

Doing so does start to make the PC eq/comp functions available, though I'm still trying to get to grips with the use of the Edit and page keys.  Also, multi-pressing 'EQ' puts it in different modes that I've yet to figure out consistently.  If I get some time I'll work through more methodically and maybe put together a guide.  While it would be neat to have these working I think it's likely that using the x-touch to control those parameters is not going to be as efficient as the mouse!

Check the help file. They describe almost all operations possible. For plug-ins in general INI file modification is required. But in case you use some plug-in often (I mean any FX plug-in, not only ProChannel EQ/Comp), the time you spend for mapping is a good investment. Note special key combination to reload INI "on the fly", without Sonar restart (can be found in the help, I do not remember right now).

It's also well worth getting the overlay, printing it on decent 200g photo paper, and then spending a little while with a craft knife to get it to fit correctly.  I was thrown by the 'Trim' light comment until I peaked under the overlay!

Since I do not have the device, I could not draw the overlay with correct size. In another thread there was a good advise to visit Behringer forum and search for ready to print one.

About the template on the Behringer site, I have the most frustrating time trying to get anything from that Behringer site to load.  It just sits there with the hourglass (and I have a very fast connection).

Aszlow, if I give you precise measurements for the X-Touch, would that help you to create the proper-sized overlay?  Just tell me what you need.  For example, the distance between the outside of the white F1 button to the outside of the F8 button is 120 mm.  The width of the outside of the black traced line around those buttons is 128 mm.

I am not using any other DLLs or INI files from Aszlow or elsewhere.  I have no desire to control any effects with the X-Touch.  Is there any other reason to consider using modified Mackie Controller files?

Thanks for all the renewed interest and help.  Much appreciated.

All credits for finding this post should go to someone else in this forum (I mean Sonar forum). But I can not find the original post...

I have compared my layout with the layout from Kevin and they are identical. So till you want spend all your black ink, you better take his.

Not at the moment. Only in case you find some bug, since the only realistic way to get it fixed quick is to ask me

@riojazz:  the template linked above is the one I used and it fits pretty well as long as you cut accurately.  I did need to splice the output in half (horizontally) as it wasn't quite centered over the transport keys.  The other thing is that by default this just shows F1...F8 for the function keys.  When you map those you might want the proper function labelled.  But the author says he will supply the photoshop file if you want to change them.

Thanks.  I can deal with a Photoshop file if provided.

Perhaps my printer is re-sizing, because the template is not even close in size to the unit.

Hey Matt,

I finally got around to making a template.

You have my email address, so if you want a .psd file I can zap it out east to you.

I cut out the template this morning and it fits on my X-Touch.  The "Next Win" and "Close Win" could have been a little further to the right but its OK as is.

I'm going to try and make one of card stock and laminate it.

I thought about laminating either a paper print out, but I was concerned about the cutouts for the buttons. If you don't leave some space around the buttons, the lamination will come apart around the buttos.

I just used matte finish photo stock and it works well. I also used some double sticky tape to keep it in place.

The "laminating" I'm doing is with my Wife's "Xyron" craft laminating machine.  It is sticky stuff, not "heat" laminating.  Hopefully it won't come apart.
