Hi all. I use a ~17 y/o MS Intellimouse Explorer that I refuse to let die and have repaired several times over the years.

I don't do wireless for keyboard/mouse. Instead, my keyboard has a built-in USB hub where I plug my mouse. It's also convenient to plug the random low-speed USB devices coming across. A single, 10' USB F/M cable snakes through the workstation desk and back to the DAW. Works great.

Cheers,
JR

I don't like the added weight from batteries in a wireless mouse and they always seem sluggish to me.

Funny how people are different - I actually like the added weight, it makes it feel more solid. And I think performance of a wireless mouse very much depends on where you have the receiver. My Logitech has a USB receiver dongle, and I get far better performance from it when it's plugged into the USB ports on the front of my tower than I do when it's plugged into the back.

I agree with Alex about the ms mouse driver. Some years ago i ran down an issue... With his help?... With a mouse and fixed it with the generic driver, i think.

I work wired when at all convenient.

I've always used a wireless mouse and haven't noticed them interfering with DAW performance . I always use Logitech Anywhere models and have used them both with or without the official drivers.

The only problem I've had is that some Logitech mice have a problem with phantom clicks, i.e. you click once but 2 or more clicks result. That can make any kind of intricate work an absolute nightmare, whether it's in a DAW or in a program like Photoshop or wherever.

I discovered, by accident, that you can use 2 hand controllers (not getting into the mouses/mice controversy).
On my XP DAW computer I wanted to start using a USB mouse and keyboard instead of the old PS2 (?) devices. Had all 4 plugged in at once and either mouse controlled the cursor. I wondered what would happen if I moved both of them at the same time in opposite directions, but decided that I'm not ready for the universe to implode.

In a previous job, I used to spend a lot of hours continually doing high precision graphic editing using a mouse. At one stage I tried using a wireless mouse but that didn't last long. The extra weight slowed me down and also would have eventually resulted in wrist strain. Lightweight is best.

Even though I use a laptop,it sits away from me,with an acer 24" monitor above it,so I have used an orico 8 port(that have 5 usable ports left lol) powered USB hub that obviously needs replacing, but after the logitech pair became binned(connecting wires went) I got a crazy cheap gaming keyboard and mouse set x2(with cloth braided connecting USB wires) both for $42 au total shipped from China (2+months!) on ebay.

I don't think I could deal with wireless, but having never tried them,I don't know? I just don't like the idea, but while the qwerty keyboard(s)-have been fine, the mice are buttoned and wheeled, but super cheap(no brand on either),and are super particular about the mouse mat(I think?) as the arrow starts moving all over,if kept still for more than a few seconds, until I pick it up and re-initialize it,but the author has convinced me to stop cheaping out,buy better, and see if it helps.

This is a subject where you'll hear the full gamut of experiences. In short, some folks have had issues, others have not.

Personally, I've been using wireless mouse/keyboard combos for years, and the only times I've had problems are when the batteries get low and cause strange behavior.
