Hi Sonar friends,
I have read the sad news about Sonar`s end and what will happen when a new Windows version comes out? Are we must have to stay locked to Win 10 in order to use Sonar?

Thank you

In 1999, I used Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 on Windows 98 SE.  In 2018, I can still use Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 (to edit studioware panels) on Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

I personalty believe that Sonar will keep working for a long time yet, regardless of Windows versions.

On my collection of computers I have Sonar 8.5, X1LE, X3e, Home Studio and Platinum's last version. All run just fine on Windows 7 , 8.1  and 10.
There is some who believe W 10 updates will someday make Sonar stop working.
Personally I think that's being a bit overly paranoid, but I can see their point. Nobody really knows what the future brings right now. I'm optimistic that my future includes working with Sonar. If W10 kills that set up, I still have Sonar on W7 and W 8.1 which will not have the update issue.

So those of us that have a computer dedicated to Sonar Platinum are we better off just going without windows 10 updates at all and just running what we have as of this moment? I have a Yamaha AW16 G hard disc recorder that still works great it was sold back in 2003.

We're not supposed to see a newer version of Windows - it's 10 in perpetuity, regularly updated. Time will tell if this turns out to be true.
For what it's worth, the recent creator's update (I think that's what it's called) broked my Sonar install.

Sorry, but just, no. My home machine is also my netflix machine, my internet browsing machine, my gaming machine. I'm not going to avoid updates. That's just bad advice. It's like suggesting that someone doesn't drive with a seatbelt in order to prevent chafing on their shoulder, or to disable the driver airbag in case it makes a loud startling noise in the event of a crash.

EDIT: Also worth pointing out, the link you supplied only defers them for about a month.
