I'm not going to avoid updates.

Still bad advice. Still incomplete advice"

"Also worth pointing out, the link you supplied only defers them for about a month."

You have your opinion, and always the last word, but please, let others breath without assassinating them.

Yeah I don't have a right to respond to entirely incorrect comments and correct them because "ego". Must let others breathe whilst they call out my advice "bad" for no reason. Must now leave because you say so. Must tolerate your "ego has landed" comment.

Sure.

Depends on what you have I guess, according to MS:

With Windows 10 on newer silicon (2016-era PCs with Skylake, Kabylake or newer CPU), benchmarks show single-digit slowdowns, but we don’t expect most users to notice a change because these percentages are reflected in milliseconds.

With Windows 10 on older silicon (2015-era PCs with Haswell or older CPU), some benchmarks show more significant slowdowns, and we expect that some users will notice a decrease in system performance.

With Windows 8 and Windows 7 on older silicon (2015-era PCs with Haswell or older CPU), we expect most users to notice a decrease in system performance.

In my experience Windows 10 is the first edition of Windows that somehow makes things work that didn’t work on some earlier versions. I really don’t see W10 being a problem. I can’t think of anything old that hasn’t run on it, software or hardware.. except the first version of Mixbus, I’ve never been able to get it to work. I wouldn’t worry about it but if you do worry, the next time there is a killer sale on S1, but it for peace of mind or just get Reaper. It isn’t as good but it’s cheap and you’ll have a backup DAW... but W10, IMO, isn’t going to break SPLAT. I think Microsoft wants their OS to run all modern software. If it runs now I expect it will always run.

Agree with statement but we can't be 100% sure... but then again we can workaround to make sure this does happen...

Windows update for business effectively installs updates that other users have tested so Win10 is less likely to break. Finally if you are regularly backing up with True Image you can always roll back if necessary (there is the guarantee).
