I understand that you don't like the auto mode. It will always have a certain delay.
So, do the monitors pop if you are in "on" mode and nothing is connected and you use the power switch of the monitors to turn them on? If so, I would check with Behringer if that is normal. I wouldn't think so.

Wilko - I could deal with it if it were just a "delay" turning on for the auto mode, but the problem is that they won't come on at all, or ONE of them will come on and not the other.  it may be because I have the levels low, and might be that if I turn them up they would both come on in that mode, I haven't tried it simply because I don't like that work around.  this may be something that is "broken" on my particular monitors, I don't know.

I haven't tried turning them on with no inputs connected, I can try that (although that will only be information, not a solution - I cannot plug and unplug the cables all the time, that's not reasonable).  but it doesn't matter if I turn the soundcard and mixer on before or after the monitors, I get a pop either way.

I just tried and they DO pop regardless of whether they have the input connected or not.  they simply pop every time they're turned on.

BTW - you looked at the manual for these, but you probably looked at the B2031A's not the B2031.  I have the originals - there is a rev A out now.

So, if both of them pop, then it is probably a design flaw. It may still be worthwhile sending them an email.

I could and might, but I suspect their answer will be to upgrade to the newer version.  like I said above, I have the original version, not the newer version (which "newer" has been out for several years, actually).

I know this is pretty old but I'd love to know where you got that thing. My dad had one when I was a kid but I've never seen one again.

Tripp-Lite appear to make modern-day equivalents of what's called an "Under-Monitor Surge Protector"  :

My Equator Audios pop when I turn them on. They also pop a couple of times when Windows is firing up, which leaves me to believe it's something to do with my RME Babyface.

With regard to turning off monitors when you're not using them, well leaving them on is a mistake I will never make again. A year or so ago I left them on while I was at work and there was a power surge (some idiot working on the building electrics) which totally blew them. Came home to dead monitors.

even tho I was writing about those popping Behringers several years ago originally in this thread, I never did resolve it and I've never upgraded those monitors - still use them.  they still pop every time, regardless.  power conditioner did not help - it's obviously a design flaw.

but thank you sharke for the heads up on leaving them on most of the time, which I tend to do since I can't get them to stop popping when I turn them on.  I guess i need to rethink leaving them on most of the time.
