There is a new driver on the beta site. Looks like it is actually for the 1st generation devices (although I can't confirm.) I had honestly given up all hope... Now, to see if they work!

Thanks for the heads up, but it looks like it does not cover my 1st gen 18i8. Bummer.

How do I determine which generation my 18i20 is? I don't want to assume it's first generation....

You may have to check with Focusrite (when the 2nd gen came out vs. when you actually got yours).

My 2i4 is definitely 1st gen as I got it a few years back and the 2nd gen of this is much newer. Speaking of which, just last week I started using 2nd gen drivers on my 2i4 as the recommended drivers (1st gen) were continuously dropping out.
So far, they've been rock solid.....no issues.

That's an interesting comment on using the 2nd generation drivers on your 1st generation 2i4.  I can report that Focusrite Support told me the 2nd generation Control Mix software would not work on my 1st generation 6i6, 8i8 or 18i20.  Just for fun, I tried it anyway, and the software reported "No hardware connected".

I'll be watching for a report from RSMCGUITAR on how the new beta driver works.

So far so good. I believe the latencies are a little lower. I probably should have written the old ones down though so I could actually compare! The control panel is different yet again. There are only two drop downs. One for bitrate on for buffer. Gone are the playback and recording options from the 3.2 beta drivers.

After further testing... I seem to be getting lots of crackles and pops when there were none before.

Weird...had these issues with the 3.2 beta.
The 4.14 2nd gen is very stable for me so far.

Well, this is really confusing because there seems to be two 4.14.0 Drivers one for each generation.

Well...spoke too soon...back to square one. Just got some pops and a dropout with 4.14.0. at 128 - 3ms (Small enough project, 2 vsts and 5 audio tracks)
I reverted back to 2.5.1 but whenever I try to change the buffer size in the Asio panel, I get an error message and get kicked ouf of Sonar. First time this happens with that specific driver.
I must have tried every driver that was released for the 2i4 with no decent results.
Normally, I should easilly get by with 128 -3ms with an i7 PC.
