I think it is the slippery slope idiom and where do the posts and mods cross the line?
 
Some people just have an ax to grid against particular people. Someone could probably post their favorite color and get reported. I think it also depends on the current environment. If there have been lots of recent posts about religion or whatever, those might automatically get squelched by the mods to keep the static down. Like zero tolerance.

I find that the oedipal conflict often makes folks want to control the behavior of others.  That's an impulse that causes alot of friction.   *Etiquette, table manners etc, social norms* are widely diverse. If someone's not breaking any laws or hurting anyone else, what's it to you?  Why does anyone's  a'penis depend on your approval?
