Just did a short test. The transport worked. It seems like ACT is no longer working. Faders are hardwired to volume and knobs to pan.

Hi,
A Pro 800 (current product) currently does not work in Win10. Allegedly drivers are "under testing"
I'm hoping this is a very poorly worded suggestion that the drivers are being worked on. However the latest legend on their website suggests otherwise.
Roland driver advice seems to imply that they cannot be bothered to make their devices compatible.
Roland appear to have stuck two fingers up at their customers, and I hope they lose most of them if this attitude continues:
Note the legends, no suggestion of drivers in development
Google this:  Roland support news 250024

The short answer is it's not quite ready yet. Until the drivers are ready everything writen above can be regarded as pure speculation.

Hi,
The driver is still under testing, however the A Pro Editor/control plugin software is already history as far as Win10 is concerned.
Read their own statement.

Roland Latest:
MIDI Keyboard Controller
Model name Hardware& Driver Exclusive Software Remarks A-300PRO A-500PRO A-800 PRO Under testing No Exclusive Software:
  • A-PRO Editor : Sorry but it is out of support.
  • A-PRO Control Surface Plug-in for SONAR : Sorry but it is out of support.
  • Hardware and driver "Under Testing"
  • Exclusive software: No (for the meaning of "NO" read the Roland legend on same page, copy and pasted below):
No: No plan for compatible version We are sorry but we have no plan to make it compatible with Windows(R) 10 64-bit Edition / 32-bit Edition

Cheers I tried the special "normal mode" in Windows 7. I could get some programs to take CC mapping others would not. All the programs in question take CC mapping with the proper Roland driver.
Hopefully they will have that working soon.
Presumably this cut down "normal mode" works the same in Win10 as Win7?

A real shame that they aren't going to make the rest of the software work. They should be obliged to make the driver work though, as it is still a current product.

Again the driver has not been released, you are probably using the MS driver. I've never found a use with the other software, esp when using Sonar.

You really shouldn't reply without reading posts in the thread properly first. This is an unfortunate mix of ignorance and arrogance.

You'll make yourself look rather silly.

Rob, have you really tested that it does not work as a control surface in SONAR? I am almost sure it should work as MIDI keyboard in Standard mode (see page 65 in the manual). It can be some milliseconds slower (it at all, I have not managed to notice the difference with my A500S), but it is using standard drivers in this case. Many boards (Launchkey for example) have no "special" mode/driver at all and it seems like people are still happy.

Cheers Azlow3, I didn't credit you with pointing this out first. Musichoo tested this and I tested it in Win 7.
You can see my finding (so far) in the thread.
Loathed to go back to Win10 to test this. I will wait for Roland's test results with their driver developments.
I hope they do come up with a proper driver so that CC mapping works every time in soft synths. I expect they are doing this, though why on Earth this wasn't available at the Win10 launch when millions of people had already been using Win10 preview and they have had access for many months now we'll never know.

At least this is a fall back option. :)

We will just have to wait Roland come out with their drivers. Honestly I had hardy use the accompanying software or plugins. The win10 driver will do for me.

I will be happy enough if Roland bring out a proper Win10 driver too. Fingers crossed.

I'm a bit confused with Roland's status for the A-Pro series. They say that the driver is under investigation but they also say that there's no support for the A-Pro editor or as a control surface for Sonar. I thought that was what the driver was for. WTF?
