I just purchased the Softube Console 1 and a Behringer X-touch mini to slowly move away from mousing so much of the time...haven't received either of them yet, but soon... Anybody have any workflow tips on how to get the best out of both together?

Certainly will try and use AZslow's controller...

Thanks all!

P.S.  Does the X-touch mini have scribble strips?   Don't need them for the Console 1

I do not have any of them, but from what I know, let Console 1 under own Sonar integration and use X-Touch with AZ Controller.
In that constellation, Console 1 will control own plug-ins and Mini will control the rest.

Several users have reported they are happy with Console 1 + MCU. Mini in most operations is far away from MCU (on physical level, that is not possible to change in the software), but (unlike with MCU) you can control any plug-ins (ProChannel, FXes, Synth, just do not forget to install and use "AZ ACT Fix").

I do not know what you mean with "scribble strips" on Mini.

PS. With AZ Controller + Mini it is possible to modify everything it does. Possible, but not easy for non programmers (AZ Controller presets are programs). In case you need some custom changes, just let me know (on my forum).

I agree with Alexey (azslow3).

Console 1's own app and it's tight integration with SONAR is really a pleasure to work with.

In combination with a control surface (or more than one) which sends and recieves plain MIDI messages (e.g. X-Touch Mini, Compact) and AZ Controller you can create a pretty powerful setup to control SONAR.

The X-Touch Mini doesn't have scribble strips.

Best,
Klaus

Thanks A and K for your input...

Is the unit itself plastic or metal?

Klaus
If you mean Console 1 Mk II, it's mainly metal (bottom, sides and top frame).

The part on top where the switches and encoders are mounted is a kind of plastic or maybe fiberglass.
But it's completely rigid and feels solid (e.g. it doesn't bend if I put pressure on it).

I don't own an X-Touch Mini, so can't say what it's made from.

Thanks Klaus... I was referring to the X-touch Mini.   Console 1 came today and it is stout to say the least!!

I guess my question regarding the Mini was a bit ignorant... I mean really, a $49 piece of equipment that is made of metal... only in my dreams :)

Console 1 is working fine, but no love for the X-touch mini... Followed the installation instructions from AZ's site, including initial installation of AZ Controller, and the X-touch Mini preset, but I cannot get it to work...  I can start the X-touch Mini in MC mode, but after that, I get nothing...
I'm sure (and hoping) that is operator error instead of a dead unit... probably the former :(

Anyway, I will keep trying.
Thanks all...

Update... well, I think I got it going somewhat...volume, solo and transport... haven't tried nor figured out how to control plug ins yet... will come soon I hope.

Update:

Console 1 and X-touch mini have been working great... until I tried to use them with Studio One... I understand that the Console 1 won't work with the version I'm using (Studio One Prime--yep, my trial full version trial period ran out so I had to revert to the free version due to the fact that you can't use third party plugins with Prime), but it seems to me that the Mini transport functions should work...
Now it won't work, even with Sonar PLAT...???    I reinstalled the AZ Controller, imported the mini preset, but no joy here :(   Pretty sure I followed all the installation instructions from the AZlow website exactly...
When I try to specify the in and out ports for AZ Controller, I am not given the option of choosing the X-touch Mini-- my only options are "midi".   It's probably operator error, as the problem usually involves ME, but I would like to sort it out if possible.
Any thoughts Alexey?    Thank you...
Salud!
