I've done a little searching through this forum but to no avail, and just looking for a step-by-step solution if possible. I've recently started using Cakewalk again, but I don't remember too much about it. Recording the first track and touching it up is no problem, but when I record a 2nd track, while I am recording the first track is muted. How do I change this so I can hear my other tracks while recording a new one? Need to know ASAP as I am on a deadline for demos. Thanks!

Since this is the forum for the ProAudio product (most folks using PA9), I'll assume you are using that product and not Sonar or one of the other Cakewalk products.

In the PA9 menu, look at Options>Audio....  then the Advanced Tab.  There is an option for Simultaneous Record/Playback.  Make sure it is checked.

I'm not sure this will work with all soundcards but it has worked with the several that I have used over the years.

I should have also mentioned that it is ALWAYS a good idea to say what Cakewalk product (and version) you are using and usually something about your hardware and software setup.

Thanks! This worked. And yes, I'm using PA9, completely forgot to add that in. I guess that's what I get for posting things at 2am! Thanks again!
