Hi all.
So I currently have mc5....and like it's layout and have used most of its bells n whistles recording my own stuff (mostly gtr, bass n drums...vocals eventually) at home. I use a laptop with win7 and a focusrite interface for in/out...very efficient and mostly happy with it.
That said.....as I progress with more extensive recording and time invested...I wonder if upgrading to Mc7 or even Sonar Platinum would be worth the while. I basically want to know if your sugg would be to upgrade and what reasons to go with either. More so curious why Mc7 would be preferred to 5 . appreciate any input thanks.

MC7 is based on a snapshot of the current SONAR engine. There is considerable difference in price and features between SONAR Platinum and MC7. There is a comparison between MC7 and the current versions of SONAR http://www.cakewalk.com/D...p;help=Comparison.html

There is a sale happening now http://www.cakewalk.com/summer-sale

The MC7 vs Splat answer probably depends on how much time and detail you spend fine tuning your recordings.  If you spend a lot of time fidgeting with songs after recording then you probably should consider going with Platinum, which comes chock full of tools to help tweak the sound.

If you just record. set the volume levels, compress a bit, add a reverb, then print your final version you may be happier with MC7.  MC7 has a set of simplified tools that do the job, but are a bit light on detailed settings.  Easier to use, but you can't do quite as much.

Wrestling if I should upgrade to MC7 (saw the sale price...seems a deal ) ...or purchase Sonar Artist ??
I am used to MC5 ....but wonder if Artist offers more streamline/ease to write/record songs more readily.
Thoughts and experience appreciated.
If this matters ....whichever I go with....will likely be put on a laptop(better performance and only for recording) with Win8 ....but will upgrade to 10 (I believe....seems many are having decent success with 10.

The workflow of MC7 and SONAR Artist are similar. The advantages of SONAR are a more flexible configuration, unlimited tracks/buses, more plug-ins and 12 months of updates. MC7 provides more content and a new channel strip.

Thanks.....I'm feeling MC7 is the more reasonable thing at moment since I am used to 5 and the flow of it and its a minimal investment....though I would imagine Artist would be pretty intuitive as a follow up.
