Pulled from the latest political headlines, I created this Prog-Rock Instrumental.  Not my normal genre, but I think it turned out rather nicely. 

The story behind the title: The only thing worse than being stuck at the hated gate 35X in Ronald Reagan - Washington National Airport, is if you are Donald Trump Jr. stuck at the same gate with Robert Mueller.  I thought "Gate 35X" would make a cool title.
I had no idea what kind of song it would be (Instrumental or with vocals) when I started.  But after I got started, I knew I couldn't make it any better by adding lyrics.

Superior Drummer 3, various Orange Tree Samples guitars and bass, PianoTeq, and VB3 Hammond organ, all created - mixed and mastered - in Cakewalk (CbB).  Updated with added sound efx, new lead guitar part, better defined ending.  ENJOY!

And I don't want to break any forum rules by talking about politics here, but if you google "Gate 35X, Trump Jr, Mueller"  I'm sure you'll find the news story, which is about 2 or 3 days old.

The song is basically made up of four sections. The first is a basic intro, the second is walking up a scale, the third is the "prog-rock" part, and the fourth (which is probably the part you're talking about) is the jazzy groove. 

I've been trying to write songs that are more dynamic, which contain different style sections.  Unlike typical rock songs with a verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus.  I'm a big fan of Rickie Lee Jones stuff (not Chuck E's in Love) like from her Pirates album.  And I'm learning to construct songs that have quiet parts, then jazzy, louder parts, etc. 

Nice tune! Not much market for progressive rock anymore, and that's a shame. Something inside me died when jazz-rock fusion fell out of favor too.

Thanks for listening Wayfarer.  I don't much care what there is a market for, I'm a "home enthusiast" using professional equipment. I mostly write for myself and to share online.  Prog-Rock is not my usual forte' anyway, but I mainly did it as an exercise to see if I can create those tight riffs. (Cakewalk makes that easy to do in the PRV) 

As I said in my previous post, I strive for lots of twists and turns in my songs (like Rickie Lee Jones), in a jazz-fusion style of rock.
And if you look there still is a market for those kind of songs, just not nearly as much as there was in the 70's though.

I like the opening bass line. Sets the tone nicely. Good groove. I like the guitar playing as well. Reminds me a bit of Kansas or Yes. Thanks for posting. 
 
 

I liked the intro, but I really liked the rest.  Very effective prog - performance, arrangement and mix.   Gave me a nice Genesis/Kansas vibe.
