Sounds good.  Also it would be a good idea to keep a track of any specific mixing decisions or techniques used so we can compare notes at a later date.  I suggest we start out with the "Angels in Amplifiers" track as it has fewer tracks.

Sounds great!  I will download these this evening.  Also I plan on NOT listening to their final mix until After I am done.  I don't want to sway my decisions based on what they did.

Wait for me! I want in. haha

I heard it said that one of the best ways to practice mixing is to create a deadline. It prevents you from over-baking your trax and overall mix. Did you give a "deadline" for completion?

If curious, I'm pretty sure I heard that from . But it was a post from a year or two ago, so I don't remember which video it was on. He's said it a few times over the years, though. It might have also been from his website, though:

The forum seems to have swallowed the name and link from your post.  I'm going to take a guess at Graham Cochrane from TheRecordingRevolution.com though.  If not, then there are two people recommending the same :)

I'm not against a deadline but it will have to take into account the fact that some people may have limited time.  Maybe something like a target date rather than a hard deadline.  So everyone tries to get a first mix in by the target date so we can all discuss things while it's fresh in our minds but not stopping anyone from submitting later on if that's what works for them.

Cheers,

Yeah, it was Graham. As one who is limited in time, yes!... I completely agree with your suggestion!

Alright here it is, this is a two hour (in the studio) mix.
I'm Alright - Angels in Amplifiers
I pulled the tracks into SONAR and setup my busses on the office rig.
Only SONAR plugs.
Concrete Limiter on the Master Buss.
Here is Insight's analysis of their mp3

I guess now we discuss...

Wow, I haven't even had a chance to Download yet.  I really want to listen to your mix Tom, but I am holding off so I can mix my own without any outside influences!

I will try to at least download and get a rough mix tonight...

I'm also holding off listening until I've finished my own mix.  Hopefully I'll find some time to finish it this evening.

Just a small point, but Concrete Limiter isn't a stock plugin, right?  I guess it doesn't matter too much, but people will have to bear that in mind if we come to sharing actual project files at some point.

I know, that and the PC Gate on the Tom's; I couldn't help myself!
I can put up just the mix if you all feel that's necessary.
I put up a little page I'm Alright - Angels in Amplifiers - DeeringAmps Mix/master (notice the small "m")
outlining my approach to the project, screen shot of the CONSOLE.
I like the tune BTW, got a nice Santana vibe...

no time to participate, but I listen in ... good tune, interesting first mix ... yet, not taking part, I don't qualify for feedback

I, for one, think that taking time to listen qualifies anyone to leave feedback.
But I've already broken the "rules".
As for the 2 hour thing, there was talk of a time limit; but I don't think anyone meant 2 hours.
I had a "slot" yesterday afternoon, and filled it.
My guess is once a few mixes are up everyone would love to hear your thoughts.
I love constructive criticism.
