I just downloaded the tracks, and am hoping to find time to mix it.  Like the others, i'm not going to listen to other mixes until I've got my own done.
As for using Sonar plugins, i'll try.  Honestly, i can't remember where a lot of mine came from..

Let's make it interesting...Limit the mix and mastering to only Plugins available within Sonar Platinum.

For EQ and compression Platinum got excellent tools on board, but for the room component i.e. carving the proper space you are putting some serious limitation on your workflow

I've now realized that I'm really bad at committing to a mix, so to prevent me from getting into an endless cycle of tweaking, I'm just going to post it as it stands.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's.

I just finished my mix: http://www.icompositions....ic/song.php?sid=219803

Enjoy, critique, enjoy critiquing...
I didn't focus on mastering, instead aiming for a 2-hour timeline.

Well done!
If I was the singer I'd be much happier with your mix than theirs.
I feel like in the last 2 choruses their mix lets the vocal start to get "lost".
Evidently you didn't "squeeze" this mix very much?

DeeringAmps,
That was probably the most commercial mix I've heard so far (1/3). Nice work all around.

AMB,
Another solid mix. I agree with DA's comment about favouring the singer. And since that's who non-musicians usually listen to it would be a smart place to focus. Interesting processing on the electric lead parts... I'm not sure if it fits, but I like that it stands out. Takes away from the "Santana-esque" feel that I actually dislike...

I know this isn't a contest but I'm definitely feeling like an underdog!

The decision to highlight the vocal led to the decision to push the electric guitar out to the sides to make room.  The nylon acoustic seems to complement the vocal nicely so I left that in the centre.

I'll comment on other peoples tracks once I've had a chance to listen to them properly.  I like what I'm hearing so far though.

I have listened to my own at first...No Others (even the MP3 sample).  I must say I prefer mine to the actual MP3 on the site.  I fell the vocals are not featured enough in the completed version and the bass is over hyped (wich is typical today).  I mixed this a little old school sounding (Like Santana).  Hope you enjoy!

I will listen to other mixes from here now!

Tom (DeeringAmps) I like your mix a lot.  It features the vocals better than the original.  I put the backup vocals a little more out front and backed off the reverb on the instruments.  Very easy to listen to and very musical.

Mr. Swift - On my system your mix is a little bass heavy. The bass is almost louder than the vocals (do you play bass?)
The vocals are nicely done not over treated but stand in there nicely.  Did you not like the electric guitar?  It is gone until the end.  At one point the keys are out there alone until the very end!  Then that electric comes in strong.
The mix seems a little compressed especially at the beginning.  Or is this a gate?

AntManB - You should commit to mixes more often!  This sounds really full.  About the only thing I would do in your mix is maybe back off the reverb/delay on the lead and carve out EQ holes for the electric guitar and acoustic (Lead) so they stand out more...Just my opinion...

I only see three other mixes mine makes 4.  Please critique mine...I want to learn and don't be afraid to tell me what you really think...But don't just say your mix sucks raw eggs, tell me WHY you think it sucks raw eggs and what I can do to fix it!

Pat,
Well done!
Really like the background vocals.
Can you post a download link, I'd like to listen to it in the studio.
