Keep getting your software through cracks and illegal downloads

Will do SIR!

BTW. I have a quad-core with 4 gb of ram even though only 3.25 or so is recognized. But even then, my PC is going strong as ever. If i get a virus, I just reformat..no biggie. Too bad I can't say the same about Cakewalk.

And another thing, it's not a cracked version of sonar that I used....it's the shelf version ...with a used cd-key

They aren't going to give away code that they can use in other software programs including, likely, SONAR.
They don't owe the "community" anything. It's a business - buy or don't buy.

They'll have to reconstruct if they do - P5 uses a different code base than Sonar, and they can't just cut and paste.

Of course - but I mean logic not specific code. Hopefully they wouldn't just try to cobble in P5 code into their flagship. That doesn't mean that elements such as the Groove Matrix couldn't show up there after re-coding. It's still theirs. Why would they give it away?

Reformat your happy little life away. Oh - and check the license agreement on that "shelf version" of Sonar you're running, Mr. Clean.

roland down the river...

I believe that the future holds cakewalk by roland doing an about face over the next few years moving towards a proprietary hardware based solution and ceasing pc support. :-)

Here's why I think you're wrong (even assuming I have money for something like the VStudio. Or any other non-native hybrid solution that Roland/Cakewalk can come up with):

I already own plenty of DSP power in the form of a purpose-built computer.

I already hold a Sonar license.

I already own a soundcard with audio and MIDI ins

I already own a control surface (though I never use it, I've discovered I'm a mouse man)

All of which were chosen carefully to reflect my workflow and what capabilities I need.

How does Cake convince me to sell all of that (at a loss) and then (paying far more than what I would pay to replace what I had 1-for-1) buy a comprehensive solution that is likely both a) to have features I don't need, and b) to not have features I do need, because it was designed to appeal to the most average user they could hypothesize.

that would be a tough sell, i don’t see how they could. :-)speculation is what it is. what ever that may mean...it speculation has not been very productive for me so far. but it is entertaining. i’m thinking it probably comes down to where their largest profit margin lies. where ever that may be. i'm guessing with hardware right now. there is still a lot of good to be said about small business models. certainly a lot to be gained from larger models too. it is a strange world. i’m not happy about the dropping of p5 but it is what it is.

Trusty
Roland gear depreciates very, very quickly.

Cakewalk cheapens their gear to the point that I would never buy anything "new" from them again, and should I change my mind and stay upgrading my Sonar every now and then, soon enough I will have all their "new" products because eventually, they all get packaged in Sonar.

They are too in love with their slutty Sonar...It has sh*t load of flaws but covers itself with makeup to make it look pleasing to all the horny DAW-men out there.
Sonar already has STD (Audio drop-outs) but i hope it will get AIDS soon and die.

No wonder I kept getting ear-rex-shuns when I used Sonar...WOW![sm=kiss.gif]

wow, what a crappy decision to end the development of such a great tool. All it needed was multicore so we don't have to keep freezing tracks.
Even if they had to just make a patch to fix the coding to allow multicore to take effect....it would've been a treat. Cakewalk is loyal to their customers? That's a load of BS. They are too in love with their slutty Sonar. Sonar is the creator of Audio Dropouts....while Project5 was the creator of a 'new thinking' when it comes to Daw/soft synth hosts.
Doesn't really affect me anyways....since i torrented it off the net. And i did that with a sense that this will happen. And boy, what a good decision I made. It took Cakewalk over 3 years to write that little paragraph.
Let me use an analogy here. Sonar is that little insecure whore you see on the streets of downtown at night. It has **** load of flaws but covers itself with makeup (bloated amount of synths and effects) to make it look pleasing to all the horny DAW-men out there.
Sonar already has STD (Audio drop-outs) but i hope it will get AIDS soon and die.

Wow....Strong anger issues.

I also am sad to see it go. I have been more disapointed by the lack of communication Cake showed one of there most loyal support groups. Wait a second, nope, no lip marks on my arse. Should have been in communication with us long ago. Still a bit unhappy about that. On a positive note DA nailed it. I paid a bit more than $150, when it was like $380, but for all the years I got, all the knowledge I learned from it and this forum, and the fact that it still works just fine, good deal in my mind. Cake, thanks for the software.

I still want to kick you in the junk for ignoring us....but best of luck.
