First class musicianship here Steve. So is this all improvised?

Cool Prog song, Steve.  I really enjoyed this.

As James says, shades of Gentle Giant for sure. Maybe a bit of Brand X and King Crimson, bands that lived on the crossover between Jazz and Prog. There is some very nice harmonic and melodic development.

And what is Prog, its not the inventive fusion of diverse musical styles?

Sweet! It's like ELP meets Kansas. Very mind boggling but it sure keeps one's attention!

Wow, listening to this sounds like opening a time capsule from the 70's.  I love its superb arrangement and playing.  Two thumbs up all the way.

Absolutely love it.  How did you remember all the obscure notes?  Were you reading it? :D:D

Thanks, David!   Nah, no reading here - I can read, I just did not.  The difficult part was going back to re-record cleaner versions of the initial recordings, and then trying to figure out what the @#$% I played.

Wow Steve. I wouldn't know where to start laying something this complex down. My brain hurts.

Thanks, Daryl!   I just start with a line/section or two (or five) and then start stringing them together, bit by bit, add a little salt to taste...    But my brain did hurt on occasion too.

Reminds me of an album I loved by Bill Bruford waaayyyy back in the mid to late 70's. Your right, it does tend to drift more into prog territory, but you started out strong!

Very nice, complex piece steve!

Thanks, Dan!  Long-time Bruford fan here (one of my all time favorites) so I think I might know the one you mean...   And yeah, can't help the prog thing, but at least I made it part-way thru!

I am hearing King Crimson, ELP, Yes and a few other influences here Steve very cool

Thanks, Wooks!  Those bands are never seem to be too far back, no matter how I try.  After a few decades I guess it's just in the DNA.

Steve,

Great track.    Very complex, yet very musical.   My head hurts trying to figure out how you put something like this together.    Really like it....huge thumbs up.

Regards

Well done on this one, interesting arrangement and certainly has strong links to the Prog genre.

Thanks, Adrian!  Appreciate the listen.

Cool! Interesting instrumental music with different parts. I liked the composition and arrangement. Sounds good.

Thanks, Makke!   I'm glad you liked it.

Ooh early Genesis vibe for me - reminded me of The Knife from Trespass but without the lyrics. Great work - I don't know where you start to create such a complex piece - very well done. Andy

Thanks, Andy!  I really wasn't going for Genesis at all, but like I'd actually be disappointed with a Trespass era reference.       It all starts with a line.  Or two.

Oh yeah. For me this evokes my favourite prog band, Gentle Giant - they were highly complex, but also had swing. Brilliant stuff Steve, love this.

Thanks, James!   Now there's one I don't see mentioned often.  Yeah, I also liked Gentle Giant - Genesis-like but always just a bit different.

Loved every second of it.

Could've been on almost any Yes album as far as I'm concerned. Or maybe a Yes-RTF collab.
