  • New Waves purchase breaks other Waves plugins...

I recently re-wupped all my Waves plugins to get to version 10.  I had purchased one new V10 plug (puigchild) and thought I might as well get everything up to V10 status.  No probs.  I then purchased the new Abbey Road Chambers plug...installed and activated...no problem.  But the other day after viewing a Warren Huart vid on YouTube I decided to go ahead and get Waves Tune as well ( I already own Waves Tune Lite and Waves Tune Real Time)...and did.  Installed and activated and now not only does Waves Tune not show up in Sonar but oddly Codex and Grand Rhapsody Piano no longer load.  All other Waves instruments and plugs seem to be working fine but not those three.  I took Waves tech supports advice and followed their explicit instructions on how to uninstall ALL my plugins and do a clean install...which I did.  Same outcome.  Pretty weird, eh??

I find that unless I am installing updates (from EC updates list) I (re)install everything everytime.

I had this happen with the last new Waves plugin i added to my collection. Totally screwed in CbB, Cubase and especially Studio One v4. Along with the usual uninstalling all Waves products, including Waves Central, I had to go through the registry and delete all residual references to Waves, including a bunch of v9 Wave references, even though all my Waves were v10.  Clean reinstall brought everything back to life, except in Studio One v4 where I had to add a new VST scan path to the scan list:

  C:\Program Files(x86)\Waves\Plug-InsV10

Now all dll's are where Waves Central installed them, and all show up appropriately in the VST lists in each DAW.

After the reinstall Olpal, did you reset and scan again?

I guess I'll have to...I always dread doing a reset and complete rescan as I have so many gal-danged plugins and Sonar has a habit of hanging at the most frustrating times.  But I suppose I shall.  Honestly, for the time being, I can easily live without Codex and GRP...would be nice to try out Waves Tune though as Warren Huart says it handles "growly rock" vocals better than either Melodyne or Autotune.

Gee Grem...you must've scared my Sonar near to death with your suggestion of a complete reset/rescan.  I went to do just that about an hour ago...just after posting and reading your comment.  And, who knows how or why, but on opening Sonar for the eleventy jillionth time it started scanning the individual plugins in the waveshell.  And, lo and behold, after the scan there was Waves Tune and Codex and GRP were opening and running fine.  Good work!!

Now...how did you do it?  Or should we burn you at the stake?

What's that I smell burning? Somebody said steak? : )

Glad you got it working Olpal. And I am with you on having to reset and rescan.....PITA with all my plugins too. I try not to do it at all if I can help it.
