Wildman
I have been recording for quite some time using the UA-101.  My signal path for my mic was into a Focusrite Platinum VoiceMaster which then went into a Phonic MM1805X Mixer and then into the UA-101.

I am trying to streamline my set up and want to get rid of the mix.  (Originally I used this so I could play webcasts with the built in effects.)

So now with just the Voicemaster and the UA-101 which outputs from the Voicemaster should I use and what inputs on the UA-101.  I have tried but it does not seem as sensitive as it did with the mixer in there.

The main line out is available both on a balanced XLR at +4dBu and a regular unbalanced jack at -10dBu on the Focusrite....how should i wire that into the UA-101 for the best signal?

Any help will appreciated.

I'd go with using XLR to TRS jack cables, using a pair of line in sockets on the UA-101.

If that doesn't give enough level you could try XLR into the XLR mic preamp sockets and tell Sonar and the 101 software to treat the inputs as a stereo pair and see if you can get higher levels that way. I used a 101 for several years and never had a problem getting decent levels from the line-in sockets with a +4dB input or even a lower level unbalanced signal from a synth (though guitar level would be far too low into anything but the front panel instrument inputs.

The unbalanced jack could be used into any of the 101 jack sockets, again pairing them in Sonar as necessary. However it's more likely to require amplifying because of the lower level and more likely to be noisy.
