I tried the suggestion by sharke, too, and it works!

I just gotta say, it never hurts to read the AD2 manual either.

I found a big section starting on page 35 about the MAP window.  Lot's of useful info in there!

I tried it and the TTS-1 GM kit does play the patterns from AD2, if the GM map is selected in AD2 before dragging the pattern out.

Silly question, but where are the AD2 drum maps saved during install on the hard drive?

Thanks,

Thanks Abacab... I've seen this doc before and it helped me... But where are all the drum maps that come with AD2 saved during the initial install of AD2 ??  I've emailed XLN but haven't got a response as of today... would have been a good question for the XLN forum, but it no longer exists I guess.

Thanks again...

That is weird!  If you save a new map within the AD2 map window, it goes into your Documents/Addictive Drums 2/ folder with a .ad2map extension.

But the factory maps don't seem to be visible?  I searched my hard drives for the .ad2map files, and found nothing other than what I put there!

XLN is probably the only one that knows...

Yes, weird it is...

I searched the whole computer for different extensions (e.g., .map ,  .admap. , .ad2map) and found nothing really... All I found was the following:  AD2keymap (which was listed a AD2MAPLIST file)

Wonder if XLN will be tight lipped about it?

Doesn't AD include lots of actions that GM doesn't, like cymbal mutes and such?
Doesn't that affect the mapping and/or conversion?

I guess any AD extra actions just need to be remapped to the bit bucket, or to an alternate key.  Better no note, than the wrong sound, eh?

I looked at the conversion rule sets that ship with MIDI file Mapper, and saw one included for "EZDrummer to GM", but none yet for "AD to GM".  But there is one for "GM to AD".

You would probably need to lay out the drum map specs for AD & GM side by side, then create the custom XML rules for what you wanted to replace.  That option is provided

That may be because the AD MIDI files are in some kind of proprietary format and are only available to be dragged out of AD into something else.

Unless...

You know the secret, hidden webpage in your XLN account. Log in, and append "/offline" to the URL so it looks like "https://www.xlnaudio.com/myaccount-myproducts/offline", press Enter, scroll to the bottom of the page, and there you'll find all of your purchased MIDI packs in MIDI format, perfect for use as INPUT to MIDI File Mapper.

Who's gonna write the AD to GM rule set?

Maybe there is a hidden location for the drum maps too???

Perhaps you need to enable Show hidden files in Windows.

I'll try it...

Received this email from XLN regarding my question:

<It is not possible to directly access the Drum Maps that we have included with AD2. However if you want to add your own maps by dragging these in. Then you need to place them into the following folder in the main Documents folder :
C:\Users\YOUR OWN NAME\Documents\Addictive Drums 2\141087>

I think a good workaround would be to save the XLN drum maps in the Map Window giving them a new name, which  will then be placed in the above mentioned folder so that you can drag these out.  SOLVED
