Not to take issue with Jeff, whom I respect, but that doesn't sound so terrible to me.  Why not try blending a clear vocal with this, perhaps with a little added f/x, and low in the mix?  This effect is not so rare, but must be prepared properly.




well, I'm as far removed from being an actual singer as you can get and the range of Don Henley , even further haha, so I figured I'd do my own kind of odd version and the vocoder seemed like a weird but cool choice...I do think the vocoder with strummed chords will work and I'll just go with that vocoder sound..it's kinda odd, but I like odd :D....I love this tune, and bought a Heil talkbox just so I could record a version of it..can't wait to do the guitar solo!..I think I will do a note for note version and then a 2nd solo of complete weirdness....
