  • Anyone need mixes done.... FREE (p.2)

It must be just as disappointing not getting a mix back as to offer mixes free and not get any takers.

I see both sides of the coin.

Someone from Nashville once paid me 500 dollars to mix a song. I gave them a hot mix and they are satisfied with the song and now they are plugging it all over everywhere.

I added a few modest tracks and even some back up vocals.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Chris, please go to rexred.com and listen to my songs there and if you hear one you think you might be able to improve on the mix, let me know and I will send you tracks.

My ears are getting old... I could use a fresh or different perspective.

I agree with Batsbrew. The OP needs to post a link to some of his previous work.

I never really looked at it in terms of a quality thing...more as a simple look at how another person would go mixing something I also mixed myself. Simple as that. I could learn something...or not. Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters, and I'm no doubt sounding very boring by now, is doing what you say you'll do...which in my experience is the exception, not the norm, when these kinds of offers come up.

Sorry that I've been quiet, I had someone take me up on my offer and have been busy mixing.  I agree I need to get examples of my work posted.  I'm thinking SoundCloud my be a great site to post my mixes, any suggestions?  We can upload to BandLab's site, correct?

Yes that's correct. Post a link here when you're ready.

RexRed, I sent you a PM, not sure if it actually sent as it's not showing up in my sent box.

I sent a Cakewalk bundle file of my latest song, anxious to see what you can do with it Chris! :)

Well today is the first day that I am reading this thread, other than the first time I read it and took Chris up on his offer.

One thing I can tell you. He does what he says he will do. And he did it in a very professional manner. Before we started we talked (through PM) about what I wanted and that he could have some artistic freedom, but I would have the last word. He would not have none of that. He told me his goal when mixing is to make my work sound its best.  He wanted me to hear it and know it's my work.  He didn't want his mixing to overshadow my song.

I gave him the raw tracks and a version of a mix I did to show him what I was going for. He then sent me back a mix that I listened to, made notes for the things I wanted changed, sent him the note. He returned to me a mix that had everything that I wanted 'fixed' adjusted perfectly. This process went on for about three or four more times. And each time I was surprised at how he was able to understand my sometimes 'vague' description of what I was trying to tell him and get what I wanted right on the nose.

And I must say that the mix that I ended up with, was much better than the mix I sent him to listen to that I did.

After that I thought it was finished. But he went on to master the track and give me five different formats to use.

Chris did what he said he would do. And more. This whole experience has changed my mind about me mixing my own stuff.
