As for Windows 10... it's a fine DAW platform.
Get the Pro version... which has the Group Policy Editor (which can be used to easily disable many unwanted components such as Cortana, OneDrive, etc).
Two Registry Tweaks can be added (only work in the Pro version) that completely shut down all automatic updates.
Once you've done these things, Win10 is a fantastic DAW platform.

Really good to know. I've always just looked at all the stuff in Pro that I DIDN'T want.

Do you have a link to info re the two registry tweaks? I want to grab it now before I forget. TIA!

So, you don’t want people to say their opinion?

I never said anything remotely close to that.
ØSkald
Does their opinion hurt your opinion in some way?

I never said anything remotely close to that either

ØSkald
And what is the criteria to be able to tell one’s opinion?

I do not get to make that decision for people - I can only make the decision concerning my interest in others opinion.

ØSkald
Do you have to be healthy in any way?

This does not seem to make any sense in the context.

ØSkald
Like if you have a disability your disqualified to tell yours because you can’t spell or something?

See above. I can only decide for myself, not others. I have my own set of criteria which I have no interest in listing here since you seem to be taking this discussion in a direction where nuance in opinions is of no interest.

ØSkald
And who are you to tell who’s the one with the biggest brain?

Who are you to question my ability to decide for myself what is an opinion worth listening to?

ØSkald
Does a chess match do the trick?

Ah, there it is - sarcasm...

And lastly.
Why love a big company that don’t love you back?
It’s the same with Apple, Microsoft, Google and the rest.

I never said I loved Apple. I am not expecting Apple or any such company to love me.

This is not emotional to me.

If it were I'd probably be on a Mac software forum badmouthing Microsoft and posting videos that show how much they suck and how they are bound to fail. (see, I can do sarcasm too. ;) )

Of course, anyone can choose to not listen to a video, paper or message if they want. But what i react to, is when people border into wanting to stop others when they don’t like their message.

Sometimes we have to swallow our pride and listen to someone saying such things. And maybe we just learn something new in that moment. Not necessary of their message, but also of that person or situation.

What difference does it make ?

Both Apple and Microsoft are sucka$$  companies that only care about themselves and their bottom line .

Giving me what I really want or need in a quality computer (that I can afford ) does not seem high on either companies agenda

Microsoft gave Millions of people free upgrade access to what is considered one of the best operating computer systems in the world.  They enable this OS to run of a plethora of hardware options ranging from dirt cheap to fairly expensive.

Can't say the same for Apple.  While you might not care for either, the MS system is affordable to anyone that has a basic job in america.

Good points.

But i have to say that i feel really betrayed by MS because of them stopping supporting great things while they are used by lots of people, and after a while kill it off. Like the Windows Phone, Groove Music, using other country specific ending on mail adresses like outlook.no and the live.com/live.no and so on.

I feel betrayed in many ways. Its like people like me that has been supporters of MS for longer than Vista but they dont care. They kill off the features we love and use daily without even asking and saying sorry. I was a fanboy, but woke up.

"Gave "

I don't know what you do for a living , but I think you have a real talent w words .
Your words have made Microsoft come off as some sort of  an Innovative  Pillar of Altruism In The World Wide Community of Software and Computer Hardware.

YEAH RIGHT

OK , Lets talk about free as opposed to free access .

Cakewalk by BandLab is free . It does not matter that I have held various SONAR licenses for decades / years ...
I set up a Band Lab acct and have pretty much what I had paid for in Splat Lifetime minus the 3 rd party add-ons  No strings attached

Tracktion 5 and Tracktion 6 are both 2 highly capable modern DAW's , These are also free as in no strings attached

Can you honestly tell me that Microsoft has given Win 10 out free as in my two previous examples ?
Free access seems to come w a high price tag . MS strong armed people just like what The Old School Mafia way of strong arming people for protection money was all about back in the day .
Update to Win 10 .....or suffer the consequences of MS Scare ware and Nag ware .
MS did this type of BS to thousands of Win users trying to force them to update ..
This I know since I was one of them

The whole time I had a Win 8 64 OS on my PC  my experiences w MS went like this .

It started harmless enough , then my Win 8 64 PC started getting  held hostage by MS .  The whole time while I ran Win 8 after MS released Win 10 ..
MS tried to bait and switch me over to Win 10 ...it was innocent at first  , then MS became super aggressive .

With out my consent MS tried to put Win 10 on it multiple times by downloading Win 10 ...

No matter what I did I could not get a break because MS would not respect my system  preferences

Currently , I have 3 PC's with Win 10 64 H.E.  One would think that MS would just leave me alone by this point .

I certainly do no appreciate having any tool I laid out my hard earned coin to purchase try to force feed me it's little song and dance agenda all in the name of a marginal at best increase in it's functionality .
I am amazed at the whole rational MS uses ..MS seems to think that it is OK to ignore what I have set up as my system wide preferences and permissions . Not only that , it gets real old having an MS  update screw up my ability to use my DAW's ...
Also MS seems to like to change my system permissions to Yes when I had them set to NO ...
Having to go back and having to constantly play The Computer Detective is not something I enjoy
MS NO means NO.... WTF ......what don't you understand the N or the O ?

For my pain and suffering I think  MS should send me a drop dead gorgeous woman this way so I can have a reward in my personal life and in the sheets late at night for having to put up with all the nagging MS seems to want to bring to my door step ...
The MS way ,  is absolutely the best example of how to nag someone to death  when it comes to being a virtual mother in law
Heck I figure if your gonna hound me to death M S , send me The Patootie. I can certainly use the outlet and the added benefit of stress release from the whole “Du farkirtst mir di yorn!”  you have put me through

Now I don't know about you , maybe your OK with this type of thing ..forced updates
Who Knows maybe you have Win 10 pro where you can tell the OS to go take a Chomp until you decide to up date ...

I do not have this problem on my Two Mac.s ...I happen to Love em as long as I don't ask them to do too much at once ...

Since they are both older Mac's I have different problems...
They both run music apps , DAW's and other media creation tools and apps perfectly ...I'm grateful for that ,...
They are just running older versions of OSX . When I use them for the internet they seem to act like they are chugging up a hill pulling a Slipstream Trailer when ever I have a bunch of other applications open in the background
By other apps I'm talking about running my DAW w lots of tracks and plugs while using the internet ...

My Win 10 machines are beefier so if I got one foot on the net and the other in my DAW I can notice a difference ...
Win 10 is snappier , but hey when I'm doing music that's what I should be doing Music ...not dicking around here

all the best ,

Microsoft pushed their Win 10 software on millions of users so that MS could have access to user data in much the same way as Google and Facebook. Windows 10 also allows them to run ads for additional revenue. With Win 10 you and your data are the product. That is why Windows 10 is so intrusive. Any computer running Windows 10 and connected to the internet no longer belongs to its user but instead belongs to Microsoft. They do with it what they want, when and how they want, and they don't care if you like it or not.

The only time I use Windows is for CbB, and that is on an isolated machine running Windows 8. It is not connected to the Internet.

I run Linux Mint on my main computer, Linux Lite on my older laptop and netbook. I can do anything on it that I could do in Windows. I control what updates are installed, and when they are installed. The computer still belongs to me.

At some point I am hopeful a decent DAW will appear on Linux. For me it is the only thing missing. Until then I'll continue to use Win 8 on a disconnected machine.

For Windows 10 and newer Mac os, we are the product.
Just think about how much info they collect through Insiders.
Yeah you get a preview of new versions, but lay everything bare for them to see.

I wish there were a way of installing CbB on Linux with all plugins and the same latency as in Windows.
I feel I am too deep into Microsoft to.
Having all my backups on OneDrive and use OneNote for everything writing.
Cutting the cord would be painful.
