After hours and hours of fiddling around with GT4, I'm actually getting somewhere, and so am quite pleased.


However, last night I was playing back something I'm writing, which at this point is just a few drum tracks (loops) and a guitar track that I'm just using as a guide track so I don't get lost.

During playback, the tempo sometimes slows down - for no apparent reason - my first thought was that something was running in the background on my laptop, but even after a restart the tempo slowdowns still pop up.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I very much doubt that it's something else on your laptop that's causing the tempo change - if you run out of CPU cycles on your laptop, GT4 will more likely experience a drop-out - i.e. stop completely.
 
It's more likely that you've accidentally set a tempo change in your project.
 
If so, it will always happen at the same time, and should be easy enough to remedy. Is that the case, or is it just random? Does it happen in other projects?
 
 

No, just this one. Seems to happen in the same spot.

 
OK, it looks like you've inserted a tempo change somehow Michael.
 
Click the Now Time Marker either side of where it changes and you should see a different tempo (displayed as BPM) either side.
 
Which version of GT are you using, is it the full program GTPro4, or the version that ships with the VS-20?

That was in fact what I did. I went to the point in the song where it changes, and reset to the correct tempo. I'm not sure how it got in there.  Guess just one more step in the learning process.
