  • Razer Kraken 7.1 headphones: only stereo outputs detected ??

Hello!

Just bought these headphones to try to see if they can be used with Sonar to do some test surround "mixing".

So far, my tests are not successful. it seems that only a stereo output is detected by Sonar, no matter what driver type i'm trying to use (no ASIO, of course).

So I guess the "surround" part of the equation is not managed by Sonar the way the Kraken would like it to be.

Can anybody confirm, or am I missing something?

Thanks.

From what I can tell from reading the Razer site these are stereo headphones that have a virtual 7.1 engine provided by Razer Synapse software.  They also sell similar virtual surround software separate from the headphones. IOW, it would be up to Razer to provide a multichannel driver (and an amplifiier) instead of virtual 7.1 software.

Thanks. Returned the headphones today. They felt great and are indeed great headsets for gaming, but not that much to test and goof around surround mixing within sonar.
