Hi folks...
Can I create a shortcut/key binding to "automation write enable" on any given selected/highlighted track?

That would be awesome! Especially if I could get my Presonus FP16 control surface to activate Automation Write Enable! There is a button for it on the Fader Port 16 but it does not work with Cakewalk bB.

I will try to answer, but I am not sure I understand the question(s) right
1. For Computer keyboard shortcuts, I do not know. I have not found that during quick searching in shortcuts preferences. Note that there is no way to extend the command list when something is not there (that is possible in REAPER, but not in Sonar/CbB).
2. For surfaces that is possible and almost all plug-ins have it (ACT MIDI, AZ Controller, Mackie Control)
3. For Mackie Control, that is M1+"Strip record arm"
4. I do not have Mackie, may be someone with it can report it (still)works of for some reason no longer works. If it does not work, I can try to fix it. I plan to work with it in any case, there is report MackieControl.ini is no longer working under CbB (while still working for Sonar). Not sure that is true for original version or my mod only.
5. I do not have FP16 and they do not provide the documentation which combinations/modes emulate which Mackie keys/mods. But they mention "At the time of publication, this button has no function in Sonar". I mean most probably Presonus simply have not implemented that (is simple to implement (see 3), but should be done in the device firmware)

It looks like the automation read/write enable "command" within the Cakewalk Surface API isn't doing what its supposed to.

From what I can see, the command is being called on the API, but it doesn't do anything anymore. I've not done an in depth analysis though.

As a workaround, it should be easy to change the MackieControl to send a fake key press for the keyboard shortcut instead, but:
(a) it's a hack
(b) if you change your key mapping, it's not going to work.

One thing though... AFAIK the automation read/write enable is a global switch, so it affects all tracks.

It may be possible to use (for example) shift + select or something to toggle through the track automation read/write enable / disable, but I'm only guessing as to whether this would work or not. The Cakewalk Surface API only exposes a certain list of commands - if it's not on the list, or there's not a key mapping, then we're out of luck.

I have just checked, M1+"Rec arm" is switching volume write automation for Platinum and CbB (2018.06).

BTW since you are here
I had a report that C4 function keys configuration can not be saved and INI file is not working in CbB.
That was in fact a bug in the original CW repository, I have fixed that in my branch.

But I also have got a report Dyn/Eq (and so INI) hack is no longer working in CbB. And that is in fact true (just checked)... Have you already fixed that in your branch?

I am tired downloading this bloatware (I mean Bandlab Assistent and CbB). But I guess for the latest version it is the same.

Hmm... AZ Controller still find EQ in CbB. But my DynEQ Mackie mod can not

Take a look at my branch:

https://github.com/msmcleod/Cakewalk-Control-Surface-SDK

you'll see the updated Dyn/EQ fix in the history. The issue is to do with the program name/version. Since the program name is now "Cakewalk" and not "SONAR", your original fix was being ignored.

Ah... thanks!

BTW for arming:
SetArmMixParam() should work, including for MIX_PARAM_ANY or other parameter combinations, like FXes, Synth, etc.
