Westside Steve
hi everybody. I just noticed a few pretty normal questions from two up to four weeks ago that had no response. Just wondering if the poor old v 700 units and our tight knit little group of devotees has gone the way of the steam engine? Would be sad if so. I do love my V 700...

It works great with my X3. If it's not supported by X4 there will be no upgrade for me because it is the center of my DAW setup and I don't have firewire, so I would have to sacrifice a lot to move away from it.

I certainly hope not - I likewise have learned my V 700 inside out and I am quite satisfied - we have to cross our fingers and see what they have up their sleeves and/or as commonly said what is baking in the oven....

There was talk about drivers and such for it going open source so they could be developed by people with programming knowledge to work with future releases of Sonar. Not sure what ever came of that though. I can't imagine they will stop supporting it in Sonar, but they may just stop future driver releases when new versions of Windows are released which I hope won't be the case.

I do not believe the drivers will be open sourced unless Roland decides to do it. The control surface software has been released here https://github.com/Cakewalk

FYI: a recent on a thread in the SONAR-X Series section concerning the integration of Integra-7, V-700(R)-built-in Fantom into a V-700-set-Sonar X3e environment: forum.cakewalk.com/Here-We-go-again-m3070056.aspx#3074140

I quote the Administrator Anderton: "For support, I assume you would want to contact Roland as the Integra, Fantom, and V-Studio are all Roland products."
Looking at the labeling of my V-700-C ("Cakewalk by Roland") and
forum.cakewalk.com/Sonar-X3e-Fantom-output-m3065665.aspx
and the end of forum.cakewalk.com/Windows-81-drivers-for-V-Studio-700-m2918667.aspx

I am a little confused ..

Can anybody enlight me...?

Hey Westside!  You know how this rolls brother!  We've been hanging out since the VS 1880 daze man!  Ha!  I'm happy- and making a living- with my VS700 but I suspect I could move along at some point.  I never invested in the 700C- so I've been using my 700R atypically.  I still invested about $1800- which is the most I've ever spent on a A/D unit.  I own an RME MultiFace II (bought it about 6 years ago) and have just recently put it back in action via ADAT into the VS.  I'm doing most of my mission critical A/D conversion with a Mytek and the MultiFace.  So, what I'm essentially saying, is the VS is not the most important part of my setup.  ...anyway, I've dug using it.  Rock on!
